What Brogan is referring to (as is the help document) is NOT the Master Language (which contains the Master Phrases), he is referring to the next level below (which starts with the default language, as well as any imported languages or custom languages). The Master Language (which contains the Master Phrases) is no different than Master Templates in that respect. Both are only accessible in DEBUG MODE and they get over written during upgrades (both addons and Core XF).

If you have made a change in a Phrase (other than a phrase in the Master Language), and you upgrade XF or an ADDON and that Master Phrase has been changed by either Core XF or the Addon, you will get an outdated phrase warning, just like you get an outdated template warning when a Master Template is updated.

Ahhh, so unless I have accessed it in debug mode that doesn't apply to me. I had the master and default confused - and that led me to set up an untouched stock language with my custom language set up as a child of that language, with my custom language set as Default, just like is suggested with the styles. So I need to change that. Was wondering why not everyone is seeing the same phrases all the time.
 
This addon seems like with little work it can be modified to work as a review system.

All it needs is an field to enter a value for a rating and then have a list in alphabetical order or by rating.

Seems doable, I hope it happens ;)

A lot of people are using it as a Reviews system already. It has "User Reviews", but I do understand what you are asking for and its something that is "coming" (Different Item Types). You can already sort by Alphabetical and rating (you can even set it to default to either of those).
 
Been playing with the look of my showcase install... here's an example of a showcase item posted by one of my moderators:

Of course, when you're not logged in you don't see a few of the font awesome icons for Bookmarking, Watching, and Liking the item. Still trying to get the fields that store URLs to display as embedded images (look in the Performance tab and you'll see image links), but I'll get that sorted eventually. Making progress.

Mind sharing how you got the fontawesome icons? I'd love to be able to do something similar. If not, I undersand. Awesome job regardless!
 
Added this line of code to my page_container_js_head file:

Then went to town adding the icons everywhere. You can view the source code to grab the span tags for them. Really simple. Hopefully I did it the right way.
 
Is there a trick to get a block to show up on the xenporta portal page?

I have recentitems block there and only the title is showing up.

Edit the block, set the recent items limit, check "display thumbnail", choose which categories to pull from, edit the caching options, edit the permissions and hit "Save Changes". Its just a very basic sidebar block listing with or without small thumbnails.
 
delete the block, add the block XML again, then do all the above steps. If that doesn't work, then I will need access to your site to troubleshoot (send me info via inbox here or at the support site).
 
Looks great - I saw an example of an advanced search but it seems only limited to "categories." Can you decide what fields to include in search, e.g. car categories and whether they are 2 or 4 door and by color? I'm assuming I can have a garage and have various attributes for each car entry. Right now I just see a tab for general description but I'd like to be able to have specific data entered and searchable, e.g. make, model, year, color, price.

Im working on a prototype Showcase Field Search right now that will be included in an upcoming version. It will include a "field quick search" sidebar block and an advanced field searching page (specific to showcase) with various levels of showcase custom field searching/filtering. The first version is going to be fairly basic, but will at least allow some level of custom field searching which is better than none at the moment.

A showcase item can have 5 content tabs (set by the category that the item belongs to) as well as you can create additional context tabs via showcase custom fields and using the "Own Tab" location. You can add as many custom fields as you need. You can add them to any of the 5 content tabs, a sidebar block, make a field its own tab or use the "self placement" in which you edit the template and place the field's where you want them to be displayed.
 
Bob - sounds fantastic. The 5 tabs isn't too difficult to manage since you'll probably not have many more. For example, if it's a car, you'd have "specs" for it and then you could have a preset dropdown list of manufacturers, colors, cylinder engine, etc. All of that could go under one tab. I know this is a bit complex but it makes perfect sense with regard to a "showcase" that is more than just a glorified picture gallery. I think this might be where you're going. Great work thus far.

After reviewing the details, which sometimes are difficult between this and other plugins, I see you've implemented the fields (that's what you mean by unlimited) and the search just isn't there yet for the smart tagging. Superb job, exactly what I was seeking and not YA gallery.

Some very basic "Field Searching" functionality will be available in an upcoming version (both quick search and by specific field type & Category(s)). Results are returned in List View or Grid View (Option setting) and have the same sorting tabs and filtering options as Showcase Index/Category/Member/Tag pages.

Bought dozens of addons since beta launched. This is the most painful.
