Showcase (Reviews, Guides, Garage, Directory etc)

Showcase (Reviews, Guides, Garage, Directory etc) [Paid] 2.9.0

No permission to buy ($55.00)
There hugely expression in the templates that are not added into expression system (<phrase>....</phrases>). She must be added since it complicates enormously the updates.

Edit: it's a horror for translate, there are expressions in many template !

PS: how to associate a discussion with item?

You can edit the item and if you have the Showcase Moderator Permission 'Manage Thread Association', you will see a field named 'Discussion Thread Id'. Simply add the ID of the existing discussion thread you wish to associate with the item.

Would this add-on be a good fit for a review and information section for different makes and models of an item? Admin would add the makes and models, then users could rate and comment on them.

Yes, that is one of the main purposes of this addon. There is also a reviews addon in development that might interest you as well (XenReviews by @Daniel Hood)

Thanks Bob. Does this happen to offer the HTML5 info like XenReviews will, so the ratings will show up in Google?

Any reason to go with XenReviews over Showcase then? Is there a way to rename showcase to reviews, since technically we're not showcasing anything?

Is XenReviews available yet?

Yes you can rename showcase to anything you want. Even the URL changes. For example i have a sports website and i call it player profiles and it instead of /showcase/ url prefix i use /player-profiles/. All the information is at Bobs website. Others have created trail guides for hiking etc. It does not necessarily have to be showcasing something, but can also be used to provide information.

That's a decision you need to make on your own based on your specific needs and functionality requirements. You can use the core XenForo Route Filters to change the URLs and everything is Phrased, so you'd just need to edit phrases and change showcase to whatever you want.

We have an alpha version out and are trying to do weekly releases staggering new features and bug fixes. You can stay up to date at http://xenreviews.com. I do not want to hijack the Showcase thread, I appreciate @Bob B even mentioning our add on here.

If you're trying to decide between the two different softwares, compare the features. Also part of it comes down to if you can wait out the rest of the development stage.

They're both coded very well and I know a lot of people are very pleased with Showcase, and everyone seems happy with the direction XenReviews is headed so far.

Good luck with whichever way you go.

I just checked out the demo, very nice.

The main question I have is we have reviews for both businesses in our industry, and also physical goods. Is there a good way to separate these from each other?

Thanks guys. Awesome you two are cordial with each other for the good of the community.

Thats the way it should be :)

Yes, it has a Nested Category System. You can create a top level category named "Businesses" and then create sub categories for different business types. You can do the same with physical goods/products.

Hey Bob, anyone ever had any trouble creating custom fields? I'm trying to create one and am getting an error telling me "Please enter an ID using only a-z, A-Z, 0-9, and _ characters." - and yet, I am trying to title it "vehicle_model". Seems the naming convention meets the requirements just fine. I've already created one using this convention, but cannot create a second one now.

Not that I am aware of and nothing has been posted in the BUGS forum about it. Out of curiosity, I tested out "vehicle_type" and was able to add several different vehicle_xxxx field ID's without having an error thrown. Feel free to create a thread in the bugs forum if it is still happening for you.

Sounds good, just wanted to see if it was something anyone had come across. Likely just something on my end... will try again this morning.
