Half of the YouTube videos aren't working...
Is it just me? Can someone share a test forum or a test page to compare?
I suspect that YouTube videos with ads aren't embedding properly.

haven't seen any issues with youtube videos. share a link that's not working for me to check on my board.
instagram of course is dicey. some links do not embed properly.

and have it magically embed.

They have two embed options - iframe:

AFAICT it has something to do with a lack of Referer header. I don't know why it's not being sent and it might have something to do with another script interfering. By the way, there's a script from ID5 that's being added to the page every 5 seconds. Probably not related but it means the page gets slower and heavier the longer you stay on it.

Yeah, in December 2019 according to the logs, last updated Nov 2023. Have you tried using it? The supported URLs should be there: http://s9etextformatter.readthedocs.io/Plugins/MediaEmbed/Sites/
Let me know if your URL doesn't work.

Maybe it's user error on my part, but I see on your docs page two Spreaker URL formats and the podcast I tested on my site (with s9e installed) uses a different format and did not embed (just posted as a unfurled regular link).

That's correct, I can confirm I see the same behaviour on my local test board with full-width embeds, on XenForo 2.3.2 / XFMG 2.3.2. I'll look into this ASAP.

Not really. I looked into it but IIRC I had a hard time with backward compatibility, then I forgot about it. I don't know when I'll be able to go back to it. If someone wants to propose a fix, I'd consider merging it.

My threads post are no longer embedding.
It looks like Meta has changed the domain from threads.net to threads.com within the past 7 days.
Could that be a source of the problem.

In theory, yes, if the move was paired with some DNS changes that did not propagate correctly, or something similar. I've just updated the iframe so if that's the issue, clearing your browser's cache should fix it.
