Anybody working on an portal addon?
Because http://xenforo.com/community/threads/beta-testers-for-cmf-news-portal-blogs-wiki-tags.31262/ won't be released, steve canceled his project ( http://xenforo.com/community/threads/asr-portal.26952/page-2#post-389780 ) i'm searching for alternatives...

I started long time ago to work on a own portal/cms (mix with ideas/features from http://xenforo.com/community/resources/enhanced-pages.595/ ,
http://xenforo.com/community/threads/ragtek-navbar-manager.13438/ ,
http://xenforo.com/community/threads/ragtek-add-ons-helper-framework.15163/and some other never released addons), but dropped it because i thought it woulnd't be necessary because of the alternatives.

I am interested and willing to help in anyway that I can to my complete limitations.

I'd been waiting very eagerly for Guitar's CMS so it's a real shame that they've had to abandon releasing it :-(

Why not use XenPorta? It works well and has a lot of built-in features.

I don't use it for each of my projects, but I use it for some and it works great.

Enhanced Pages are needed much more than a portal.
Features:
Show up in What's new.
use default Xenforo editor.
allow replies / comments.
as easy posting.
Just like a thread (Like, Report, Watch, Upload files, etc.)

Wait ... wouldn't this be really easy ?

(1) Put a forum in it's own Tab (addons do that already).
(2) replace the Forum Home view for that forum with an Index Page. (more of a style change).

Hmm ...

Wouldn't it be nice if someone develops strong Wordpress, Joomla, Drupal bridges and let people have the choice of setting up proven CMS?

what's new=> not possible

everything else => that's what i (had) planed long time ago( but i canceled it because i thought that 2 portals would be enough and why waste time implementing something own... but sadly 1 was canceled and the other isn't what i want/need...)
i planed to cancel http://xenforo.com/community/resources/enhanced-pages.595/ as stand alone addon and include the features into a portal/cms addon...

But with zero support (and often zero explanation on some features) it's not for everyone. Jaxel's done an amazing job with it and fair enough he doesn't want to offer support.

Because while the developer has been kind enough to release his add-on freely to the community, his desire to improve or support is has been, respectfully, lacking.

Which is generally understandable since he released it only for himself in mind, but was kind enough to share it.

This is great for most people, but for those of us who are more heavily modded or for those of us who code other projects, this has become an issue.

Overall, it is a good add-on and the author should be thanks for his dedication, but there are some of us here who would like to see a more complete and stable code.

IF you release a paid add-on ........ Google Checkout is your friend.

Lower fees
Faster processing (instant)
Accepted more places (on earth) than Paypal

Not saying you can't or shouldn't use paypal .... That is your choice .... But at least 1 alternative (anything)

The widget framework that is currently out, is awesome as a portal substitute. I have used that in the past and would still use it now if it weren't for the fact that there are actually more modules available for xenporta than the widget framework. So whatever you create should have some useful images, most important of which being a slider and a recent posts and threads block.
