Now that Xenforo 1.1 is out, let's talk about version 1.2

There's a lot of misconception about Pages.

What they do, they do excellently.
We have over 200 of them on our site.

They were probably the main reason why we finally decided to move from free (phpBB) software.

Improve the Search. Big-Board Search is one of the really important things! My Users ran away, because the vB Search Engine is terrible. They use Google.

Is it sad if I use Google to search XenForo.com? :(

"site:xenforo.com [search phrase]" - just seems to work better. But a better search option is coming.

I've never had any issues at all using the built in search.

And I would venture that I use it much more than most, if not all.

Pages are fine if you ONLY want the admin to manage them, and that admin is so fast in writing text via html that they don't notice it.

1. There are plenty of admins who don't do html. For most other admin tasks they don't need it in XF so why are Pages restricted to it?

2. There are admins like me who do do html but why on earth should I? It slows me down a lot and I don't want to write thousands of words in html. I want my writing to be a pleasure not a draggy duty.
Especially as it's not necessary it's extremely frustrating -- Kier said long ago in the first few weeks of XF that it would not be difficult to add an editor to Pages

3. So I put up with the drag of plodding through html to produce articles. Thousands of them!
Then I am lumbered with all the many small updates and edits too as none of my mods do html. Nor do I want the security headache of them using the ACP.
I appojnt mods to moderate - that is, exercise SOCIAL skills with users, not code.

4. Again, an editor on Pages is apparently no big deal.
So for those that want it why can't it be done? We've been asking since XF started.

As always if this is unnecessary to you then it's also irrelevant for you to discuss it. If the editor was in place you can just itgnore it just as you do the html option on a forum post.

I do like the plan for moving forward with the "Resource Manager".
Also, some kind of "Calendar / Events"-system would be great to have.

yeah... and the ability to show content in "What's New" longer than just 2 days before it disappears.

Ability to change thread owner is a must, it allowed admins to assign threads like "Useful threads in this forum" to another user when the original owner lost interest in maintaining the list. I tried to setup "new owner" as moderator but they tend to go spam hunting after become one.

Because it is possible since 1.0? Click on Edit in Forumview.

Ah! It's not in Forum View. It's in thread view. In thread view, it's under the Thread Tools menu as Edit Thread. Not the most obvious thing, but thanks.

Features I miss from vB4 and want in Xenforo

1. Merge Members

2. The ability to move primary usergroups to another primary usergroup.

3. The ability to turn off RSS feeds without it taking the forum out of What's New

4. Mobile App

Features I want in Xenforo

1. Notice Goes Away When Post In A Thread or Appears After Posting In A Thread

2. Template Conditionals Checkbox...for Each Template

3. 24 Hour Interval for RSS Feeds?

Cool Add-Ons I still need.

1. All Topics Modification

2. Xenforo Login Widget for Wordpress ($20)

3. XBox Live Leaderboards

4. Avatar or/and Username Cloud

5. Invision Power vs XenForo Member Profile Tabs

Existing add on requests: LN Blog = The ability to re-blog like in tumblr and XFR Albums = The ability to only let members you have followed to view an album.

Noted! I am just happy with a fully functional paid subscription manager and not looking for a sophisticated shopping cart system. And I am sure many forum owners want this.

Simply including other payment options rather than just Paypal would be a nice start. I would like to see Authorize.net, ClickBank, 2Checkout, and others and at least have a choice instead of being stuck with Paypal's draconian policies.

Not really. Xenforo.com doesn't even use Pages. They aren't that useful in their current state except for the brave. The pages aren't even able (unless modified) to be under their own Tab !

That pretty sums of the state of things. You gotta eat your own "dogfood", as IBP says LOL. (They actually used to say that on their content plugin sales page, "we even eat our own dogfood." It was so ridiculous it stuck in my mind).

It would be nice to see some examples of various pages and how people are using them and maybe show off some of the advanced functionality that can be accomplished. Maybe that would sway people's opinion and make them use pages more.
