Well, in my case, I had AdBlocker turned on, and the filters must have read "Adsense" or similar threads as an ad, even though there's no ads displayed.

I don't think that would be a problem. I have the following installed

Ad Block Plus
Ad Block Pop-up Helper
Element Hiding Helper for Ad Block Plus
Do not track Plus
Better Privacy

All of it installed and running without issue here on XenForo

Definitely. Since I started using the google dns (not my isp) the site browsing in general has been significantly faster. Learn a bit in the process so thanks to you, Adam and few others that helped in this thread.

Virgin's been a real pain in the ass lately
Had a few people say they couldn't visit two sites I work for, and both were on virgin.

Alerts disappear when the posts / topics disappear (so get deleted). I'm fairly sure that's the issue.

Virgin Media had national routing issues on Saturday, which were almost certainly affecting you.

Nice! I'm tempted to try it as well but I also feel like Google already knows enough about me

There are other DNS providers you can try as well like Open DNS.

But i get the feeling that open DNS collects a lot more about you than Google does.
