However, the add-on is inserting the images back into the posts as links??

It looks like it's not picking the URLs up as images, but as generic attachments

It looks to have started going wrong this morning between 03:42 and 03:46 looking at the posts

I've restarted apache, and tested again, and it looks like everything is working again now.

The only thing I can find in my server is that Imagick was updated over night

Code:
Sep 09 02:32:46 Updated: ImageMagick-last-libs-6.8.6.9-1.el6.remi.x86_64
Sep 09 02:32:46 Updated: ImageMagick-last-6.8.6.9-1.el6.remi.x86_64
Sep 09 02:32:46 Updated: ImageMagick-last-devel-6.8.6.9-1.el6.remi.x86_64
Sep 09 02:32:46 Updated: ImageMagick-last-c++-6.8.6.9-1.el6.remi.x86_64
Sep 09 02:32:47 Updated: ImageMagick-last-c++-devel-6.8.6.9-1.el6.remi.x86_64
Sep 09 02:32:50 Updated: ImageMagick-last-doc-6.8.6.9-1.el6.remi.x86_64

So, looking in the database, the images don't have thumbnail dimensions
thumbnails.webp

I've manually added the dimensions to two of the images, which has fixed those. I might try doing a thumbnail rebuild against the whole attachment system when it's finished to re-populate them.

That's a lot of work.
Yeah, not sure how long it's going to take to rebuild the thumbnails 30,000 attachments (and this add-on is only on posts from September 2010, so another 3 years worth of posts to go over).

I've also switched back to GD rather than Imagick as I keep getting a 120 second time out (even though PHP is set for 5 minutes)

I think mine finished because a recent thread I posted a pic to is now an attachment. This addon has added about 4GB worth of new attachments. I got a lil scurred and went to look at my hosting package real quick to see if I had enough memory lol. Thankfully I do at 30GB. I used to not have so many gifs. I think that's where most of the memory is coming from. I'm also using. http://xenforo.com/community/resources/attachment-statistics.1654/

I have my attachment size set to 5mb. Now I'm contemplating lowering it to 2 or 3mb.

Attachment Statistics
Number of Attachments:42,852
Attachment Disk Usage (MB):5,905.87

It's just finished going through my threads, so rebuilding the attachment thumbnails now :confused:

That does sound like a temporary problem with the ImageMagick upgrade breaking the link with Apache, and the XF attachment system. Basically XF calls IM (or GD) to determine if the attachment is an image (and later to get a thumbnail). If IM is failing, then XF will assume it's not an image, and just insert it as an attachment.

It's possible that the XF thumbnail rebuild will not work if it skips attachments with (0,0) thumbnails size. A solution might be to set the thumbnails to something like 80x80 manually with SQL. Then run the rebuild.

Random question but now that I've limited my attachment size to 2mb, is there an addon on Xenforo or anything I can do to reduce the size of some attachments from 5mb to 2mb or am I just screwed lol

Not that I'm aware of. Sorry!

I have an error where an attachment that used to work now only shows a link in the post and when editing the post, it does not show a thumbnail to the attachment, although the attachment works when I click the link. Is this related to after rebuilding thumbnails with keep original name in BD Attachment Store @MattW or is this a MetaMirror issue?

That looks similar to the issue MattW was having, if the thumbnail generation fails, then the XF attachment system assumes it is not an image. The only thing I can think of there is to re-run rebuilding thumbnails. :(

I don't THINK it's a MetaMirror issue, just showing up here because of the very large number of thumbnails being generate perhaps stresses the system. And if if that attachment worked before, them MM will not touch the attachment again, so it's something else (failing during rebuild)

I posted it in the BD Attachment Store thread and they said it was related to MetaMirror
and the initial problem I had was due to this. Some thumbnails weren't generated properly. Since running the attachment re-build, my full size images are broken due to the attachment store add-on changing the file names from the hashed to real names.

Hmm, perhaps I better add a warning about running with BD Attachment Store?

Can you give an example of what you mean there?

[Edit] Wait, I saw your example in the other thread.

So basically the addons are clashing with each other?

No, it would have broken in my case regardless of this. I've replicated it on my test install which doesn't have metamirror. It's an issue specifically with attachment store.

Phew. :) So the only current MetaMirror issue is that sometimes thumbnail generation fails (which is not really MM's fault), so the attachment is not recognized as an image?
