XF 1.5 Long Posts = Spam?

Got a message from a user saying this:

"Hi I am trying to posy my hair loss story but It will not allow me to. It keeps saying my content is likely spam. It is a long post so that may be the issue. Can you please lift this restriction?"

Any idea what he's encountering and how I fix it?

I figured that but why is the default error message accusing the user of spamming? That seems like really bad judgment.

How about just something like "This is our maximum and you've gone over it" ?

So i thought maybe this was a different problem. After all, they're being told they're trying to steal advertising on my site. That's the default message for a post that's too long?

that is weird. I don't think it should say anything about spam...

If they're getting that message, then it is triggering a spam check. You can check the spam trigger log in the control panel to see specifically what was triggered.

You could call it "possibly spam", or "possibly inappropriate" instead of "likely spam", but there's always gonna be a trade-off when trying to use trigger words to catch spammers. At least now you know that "pharmacy" probably shouldn't be on the list for your forum (same with "Rogaine" or "minoxidil"), while plenty of other pharma words like "viagra", "testosterone", or "hoodia" will still mostly catch spammers and not real members.
