Where do you find the option to check this per user?I think I found the problem. Even though under options I have "Notifications API" checked as a default user option, existing users who registered before I installed the addon still have it unchecked in their preferences. Is there any way for me to enable it for all members?

I installed the latest version listed here (4.1 RC5) https://github.com/chrisdeeming/LiveUpdate/releases, checked all 3 options in add-on options, and can't find the option in User PeferencesIf you install the latest beta and enable in the addon options, it's in the user preferences.

(Although the description seems to indicate 4.1 is when corner notifications was added?
I enabled it in user prefs now but it still won't work although tabs work, I was so looking forward to using this... is there a way to have new posts auto-appear in those native XF corner notices? Also, 4.0 doesn't have the Notifications API right?I think you have to set permissions for the usergroup to see that option. Can't remember for sure though. I've reverted to 4.0.1 because I only want to offer the favicon alert.
I think one issue is the number of requests made exponentially increases with the number of open tabs.
I have a plan in mind for this but ultimately the only other mitigation is increasing the polling time. I've seen some sites go as low as 5 seconds. If someone has 10 tabs open then one user is making 120 requests every minute. 30 seconds is the default but even 60 or more isn't unreasonable.
If that still doesn't help, that's unfortunate but honestly it's the first time I've heard of anyone having to give up on it due to performance issues.
Keep watching the resource as I will work on a solution for the future.
Allright, done.I think logging a ticket via their preferred support route is the best thing to do.
