iPhone 5

Apple are pretty good about the contagious features...the ones that get people talking, and give them that "Aha!" moment. There are many imitations, but Apple's UI and design has a certain finesse about it that is not found in the "me-toos". It's why I've never found the same affinity with any other device since the first iPod touch I picked up in 2007. They pay just a little too much attention to detail, and obsess over the same kinds of things that I do when I work. They are like the XenForo of consumer electronics.
Nah all I want is facetime. I got some friends I wanna facetime with. :D

Probably just gonna have to get an iPod.

The only two iPhone 5 feature other than facetime which is already available on most iphones I want is Passbook and the ability to take pics while recording video and that panorama stuff

Pretty underwhelming.

Screen is taller, but so far I haven't seen where that has been a big deal. Noticeably lighter and thinner. Battery life is marginally improved. Its supposed to be faster, but not that I notice since the 4S wasn't slow.

Camera is sharper. Panoramic mode is cool enough.

Most of the bang for the buck seems to be in IO6, not the hardware.

Thats my take on it and y'all know I'm a bog fan of Apple technology.

8thos, ya nailed the most important reason to get an iPhone.
The hottest of the hot chicks all have iphones [100% fact]
Dude, it's brilliant.

"Sorry to Facetime you so late ;) .... but .... could you angle your phone a lil lower. Perfect".

I think it seems underwhelming because you came from the 4S, which already had a decent chip, Siri, etc.

But for those coming from iPhone 4 or earlier, like myself, it's a pretty big step up. The A6 seems very fast compared to the A4, and I'm really liking that I can use Siri to load up my music playlists automatically. (Which means that when walking, I can be almost totally hands-free.) I also feel that the Home button has been made a bit more durable, it feels sturdier than the one on my 4.

Only downside is I live in the SF Valley, and apparently it won't be getting LTE until next spring. Which means I'd have to go downtown to experience the really fast speeds, which are supposed to be better than the average Wi-Fi network.

I wasn't fully sold on the iPhone 5, but I lined up and got it (was about the 70th person through the door in Canberra Australia). After using it, I am now sold on it, believe it or not, it is actually faster than the iPhone 4S. It opens apps and messages a lot faster. The screen quality is better and after watching the drop tests that an Android forum did in comparison to the Samsung S3 I believe this is a solid update. FYI Samsung failed miserably.

I have owned (in fact, still own) every iPhone. From the first gen until 5 and in all that time, the biggest jump IMHO was between the iPhone 3GS and iPhone 4. The screen resolution and speed was the biggest jump. In regards to speed the iPhone 4 to 4S was a big jump too, however I would dare say that iPhone 5 is a bigger jump than that. Still not a big as leap as 3GS to 4, but not far behind.

The only issue I had was, late on Friday night, the phone came up with a no sim message. Thought the sim had died (after doing a search I found this actually happens a fair bit), went back to the apple store, and they did some tests, found out the phone was the cause. They treated it as a DOA iPhone, and replaced it on the spot. Since then no more issues.

Although now scuff gate is out, and seems to be a big problem for a few people, hopefully this isn't a major issue, because my iPhone 5 is perfect.

To our customers,

At Apple, we strive to make world-class products that deliver the best experience possible to our customers. With the launch of our new Maps last week, we fell short on this commitment. We are extremely sorry for the frustration this has caused our customers and we are doing everything we can to make Maps better.

We launched Maps initially with the first version of iOS. As time progressed, we wanted to provide our customers with even better Maps including features such as turn-by-turn directions, voice integration, Flyover and vector-based maps. In order to do this, we had to create a new version of Maps from the ground up.

There are already more than 100 million iOS devices using the new Apple Maps, with more and more joining us every day. In just over a week, iOS users with the new Maps have already searched for nearly half a billion locations. The more our customers use our Maps the better it will get and we greatly appreciate all of the feedback we have received from you.

While we’re improving Maps, you can try alternatives by downloading map apps from the App Store like Bing, MapQuest and Waze, or use Google or Nokia maps by going to their websites and creating an icon on your home screen to their web app.

Everything we do at Apple is aimed at making our products the best in the world. We know that you expect that from us, and we will keep working non-stop until Maps lives up to the same incredibly high standard.

I have the 4S and 5. I seems 4s works better with Internet: pages load faster and 4S catches network better. And I turn the phone sideways to read the page and screen 5 narrower than 4S. Plus, Russia has the highest prices for iPhone. I bought the 32 GB for 1000 euros. In September, iPhone cost more expensive.
