My experience is that speaking in very general terms males flourish in focused, structured zones. There needs to be a topic that interests them like practical things. how to stuff, specific areas of politics/ economics, sports, crafts, gadgets, how to cope with or get women (lol) etc
Males communicate via tasks and skills.
They also love statistics, numbers, the biggest, the first to ...
So 8thos I'd make sure you have focused forums/ threads on male type topics and make them specific. Dont go elsewhere for what you want - start your own content and tell other boards about it.
Females communicate much more directly person to person and will communicate further in a 'fluffy' way which can be apparently meaningless, but functions as bonding glue. A high female count means a community which sustains and welcomes new members.
Males assert their individuality by disagreeing. It's often a strong need in that way but doesnt mean serious conflict. Something females find hard to understand and shrug off.
A male is first and foremost concerned to express who HE is, what HE thinks. He is trained to assert his own content, not so much to link and follow on. He has less interest in what someone else thinks, and is not considered rude or immature for it.
Males make good pokes/ stimulators and initiators but if in a majority communication can get too chopped up, jumping around instead of sequencing. On the other hand males work well in teams with better ability to stick to task without being blocked by the personal stuff.
There is also the culture of dickwaving which all secondary males compulsively practice, teeing off and point scoring. They love ratings and scores. Mature males not so much.
Females also want individual identity but deep down they know their power base is in groups. They are good at commenting, linking, adding more, and support. They focus on the whole person rather than a task. This is good and bad. Good for mutual support and building understanding and respect but vulnerable to personal fallouts.
In terms of argument females are slower to argue but just as sharp when they do, or more so! Female conflict is often more serious - we're very prone to outgrouping to make ourselves feel secure in our selected group. The scapegoat outed can be pretty random but nonetheless it can last quite a while till the next victim is chosen. The previous one then has a chance to quietly work their way back by expressing solidarity and support.
Me I enjoy both but prefer a slight majority of females to reduce endless dickwaving which to me is boring. A small majority of females auto selects those males strong enough to cope.
