The ability to restrict access to a thread (either for a specified time or permanently) was a brilliant idea. I'd like to see this taken one step further in cases that don't warrant a total site ban, but perhaps restrict access to a specific subforum for a set period of time (or even permanently).

Yes, this can be done manually via AdminCP, but it would be really nice to be able to "set and forget" on the short term bans for a sub forum.

You could do this with a warning, which would add the user to a user group which, through permissions, doesn't allow access to a specific forum or forums. The warning can be set to expire automatically after a set period, so the user can then access the forum(s) again. Of course the warning can be issued from the front end, allowing moderators to issue this temporary forum ban.

Yes, it could be done with a warning, but then you would have to create multiple warnings based on the length of the time out. For large sites that already have multiple warnings, adding to the list makes things even more tedious when hunting down the appropriate warning. Much easier to just tag similar to thread bans.
