I don't think having it unlimited is a good idea as there will always be someone who will feature 1,000 threads and then post that their page isn't loading...

I have increased the maximum to 50 for the next release.

In my testing even that seemed way too high - the page length is ridiculously long and really doesn't make for a good user experience in my opinion.

However, the option is there should anyone want to set it to that.
The default is still 10.

They've been on the list for a while but that requires schema changes as currently there is no history of featured threads, so I need to think about that.

That wasn't a really serious suggestion from me, I'm more than happy with alerts. If trophies come then great (it's an area that I think Xenforo need to enhance tbh) but if not then that's fine. It was more of a 'I want more' leg-pull.

I really like it. I would miss it if I didn't have it now.
It's a good way for less frequent users to find out what topics are trending.

It indirectly rewards the authors of some of the better threads (that make it to a featured thread).

I have to say it has been received far, far better than I could have hoped for.

What started out as a simple template edit on my own site has evolved into what it is now and I am extremely pleased with it.
Judging by the feedback so is everyone who's using it
