Auto Link Titles

Auto Link Titles 1.0.10

No permission to download
Ok, thank you for letting me know.

I think there is still a few character encoding issues.

Could you disable the add-on for now to prevent the errors? I will release an update when I have fixed the issue.

@Chris Deeming,

do you have any idea why your addon might cause the RSS feeds to be insanely slow to load?

I have pinpointed the problem to the Auto Link Titles (using 1.0.9) addon.

Whenever I have the addon enabled, RSS feeds load extremely slow, over 10, even 20, seconds each.

When I disable the addon, the feeds load instantly.

(Otherwise the addon works fine, and causes no speed problems elsewhere on the forum).

There will be an update but unfortunately I can't give an estimate as to when. My Gallery project is currently consuming all my time.

Currently for this add-on, my advice is this:
  • Monitor your server error log.
  • If you notice any "Incorrect string value" errors, disable the add-on.
It seems a lot more work and testing needs to be done to resolve these errors universally. I will get to that ASAP.

Thanks for the heads up Tracy.... Maybe it's interaction with something...

I'm using Php 5.3.10 on apache (will have to check which ver)

I started seeing some rss feed errors in the acp. I visited the thread with the error and it had a link from before I installed this addon. I went to resave it to see if it would update and I got the following error which is about the same as the feed error for that forum. It may be something on that destination that changed and broke the addon or something. Removed it for now.

Code:
http://star-conflict.com/en/

Code:
Mysqli statement execute error : Incorrect string value: '\xA0&mdas...' for column 'message' at row 1

    Zend_Db_Statement_Mysqli->_execute() in Zend/Db/Statement.php at line 317
    Zend_Db_Statement->execute() in Zend/Db/Adapter/Abstract.php at line 479

    XenForo_FrontController->dispatch() in XenForo/FrontController.php at line 134
    XenForo_FrontController->run() in /home/mysite/public_html/index.php at line 13

Saves fine without the link.

This is the admincp error. Looks like it's choking on that title.

This... I agree. This could be caused by this add-on. It is basically the same issue that has been reported (frustratingly, I spent several hours the other day writing a function that should convert any string to something that is UTF-8 safe and it still didn't work fully).

However...

This is the admincp error. Looks like it's choking on that title.

This... I'm not sure how this can be related to this add-on. No code from my add-on would be executed when you go to this page:

http://www.mysite.com/forums/developing-games.144/index.rss

And according to the error it is that page which generates the error.

One possibility is that because that link predated this addon and the link wasn't parsed that when the RSS feed was created it was trying to parse out the title when building the posts for the feed and caused the error.

I just double checked and the urls are auto linked with titles in the rss feed.
This is probably why my RSS feeds choke (takes over 10 seconds to load the RSS feeds). The loading of RSS feeds become instant once I disable Chris' addon.

I wish the auto link titles feature could be disabled for RSS feeds. Maybe an option?

Thanks so much
