Wait a minute ... there are beaches in the U.K

well it is an island - there are beaches all the way around... Not that they are really sunbathing/swimming kind of beaches mind you... more like taking a blustery stroll, wrapped up warm with a flask of hot tea kind of beaches

We have beaches here, which can be very pleasant in summer, but are a little on the chilly side at this time of year.

I was born by the sea in Sussex... and the beaches there were nice in the summer (though pebble beaches not sand), but very cold in the colder months. If you like beaches for reasons other than sunbathing etc. (as I do) then we have some pretty awesome beaches and coves in the UK!
