Add-on Update Notifier

Add-on Update Notifier 1.1.8 Patch Level 1

No permission to download
Thank you! I just saw another issue:

I have disabled the option "Alert Admins about new addon updates", however I can configure those alerts on the account preference page:

I think this should only be shown if alerts are actually enabled.

Furthermore, the pre-text "Receive a notification when someone..." doesn't quite fit with that description.

Oh yeah that would make sense 😊👌I'll fix that in next release 👍

The pre-text I think will have to be like that even if it doesn't make 100% sense 😁

Looking for a couple of testers for the webshop to upgrade their API keys. The tests will likely be done sometime during the weekend, might also go longer but if so we do it as it fits :) 👍

Requirements
  • Can pay with PayPal
  • Has more than 40 addons in use (otherwise no use to upgrade :D )
  • Are willing to pay 6-12€ depending on how many add-ons the API key needs
  • Not needed, but a plus:
    • Has several forums that they want to upgrade the API keys for (There is a rebate when buying multiple)
Reward
  • Will get one extra year of validity for the upgrade(s)
How to apply
  • Answer below:
    • Write that you want to join the test group
    • Write how many forums/API keys you intend to test it with.

I can test with one forum that I have already been testing on, which has ~100 add-ons currently. Will also be adding more forums later, just other sites are being overhauled so not worrying about add-on updates right now.

I patched to level 2 but it keeps saying I need to update.

Did a hard refresh and no change.
I now fixed this in the backend so it shows correctly, it will show up correctly in ~6h...

The reason was that the resource page shows 1.0.0 Patch 2 while the actual addon version is 1.0.0.2

@021 I think you already know this and that addon release is quite old (you don't need to update it to fix version...), but I put it here just in case:

Feature ideas and suggestions

-Set frequency of updates. (days, weeks, months)

-Show icon beside each addon which indicates availability of an update or an icon indicating it has been paused with a context tool tip when hovering over.

-Number of addons currently installed at the top with the amount of addons currently being checked with the no. of how many are ignored.

-Button to clear all pause settings of updates (I've got a good 90 addons I believe, managing these could get tedious. Maybe a checkbox for each addon with options for actions would work.

Yes that is a good idea, with the next release coming up the addon updates will be "pushed" directly to forums as they happen rather than forums checking in every 6 hours, so then it might be good to not alert the admins for every addon that has been updated.

Hmm, I'm not exactly sure what you mean here, there are buttons and indicators with tooltips for all the "states" an addon can be in :) 🤔

Yes, that also probably makes sense :) 👍

Hmm yes, that would probably also be a good functionality :)

mazzly updated Addon Update Notifier with a new update entry:

Instant update notifications and new API key limits

  • When a new update is found, forums using that addon are notified instantly, no more waiting up to 6h for the update notification to arrive
    • This only works for forums that are tracking fewer add-ons than what the API key allows.
    • This also allows add-ons with wrong API versions to be fixed (show up correctly) faster
  • new API key limits:
    • 40 addons in the free API key
    • + 30 add-ons cost 6€ / year (70 total add-ons)
    • + 60 add-ons cost 12€...

Read the rest of this update entry...

Is there more details on how this addon works and knows their is a current/new version?
Does it only work for xenforo.com/resources/ listed addons? (Appears not!)
For addons not listed on xenforo.com, how are new versions become aware of etc.

It parses the version from the XF resource pages and converts it into the correct version_id that is compared against on the forum side.
It also does a bunch of voodoo magic to catch some edge cases with versioning as well as allow ignoring versions that are wrongly inputted on the resource pages.

It works for all XF add-ons if they have a resource page similar to XF that shows the newest version.

It also works for e.g. @Bob's add-ons since he now has access to modify his own add-ons' versions in our admin interface.

We even have some things planned for how to notify about add-ons that are still unknown, but it will come later ;)

@mazzly - I've just upgraded to allow for more add-ons to be added to the key, got confirmation etc, however the add-ons are still showing as skipped with no option to 'unignore' them....

Is this down to cache'ing or is there something missing?

Hmm, that might be a bug/feature we'll need to fix. For now, you could uninstall and reinstall as that would clear out the ignored data...

You can also wait ~6h as it should then become okay :) 👍

Can you send a PM with the apikey or board url, it might be that your forum is running on multiple IPs and we need to whitelist the other one :) 👍
nvm, I found it and whitelisted it already :) 👍
