Righto champ, way to create tension, not really sure there is enough room in here for such a high horse to be ridden

I'm not trying to be a ass but the original XP thread was awful and everyone complained Jaxel didn't offer support but it was the same questions being asked all the time and myself (and others) put a lot of effort into helping people find the answers. There's an overview and an FAQ this time, the very least people could do is read them.

Then I will retract it, my apologies. I should have read it more.

I personally however find the resource manager and theme of xenforo difficult for content flow and reading, and it makes it rather easy for content to be skipped and missed. I become "content blind" very often on this forum, which is odd, as I am not generally a victim of that, particularly as I run content rich sites.

A topic for another time however.

So the war between BD Widget Framework VS XenPorta Widget Framework is back?

It's really tricky when there isn't almost no xenforo addon that is extended enough, forcing us to use multiple plugins that may end up conflicting because they mess with the same thing. :(

Can I upgrade my original XP?

I am in the process of converting my wordpress articles over to the xenforo, then xenporta and have just finised those scripts so don't want to have to re-write them
You can easily import all your articles and categories from XenPorta 1. However, if you have any custom widgets, they will need to be redone.
How does one replicate the article / comment layout similar to how you have on 8wayrun? Is that possible with this add-on or is it a custom thing?
Its built into the article list index.

how do I limit how much is posted. I don't want all the images to show.
WickedStangs.com.webp

I would like it to show like this.. with the date.
date.webp

When you promote a thread into a feature, it will ask you to upload an image for the slider. It no longer grabs images from the first post of the article like it did in XP1.
Thanks for the quick answer.
That's too bad I loved that feature in xenporta 1 can't have it all I guess. I would buy it though if it has a first image grab in the article system like it was with the recent news block.

The reason why I dont grab the feature sliders directly from attachments before has to do with content awareness and usergroup permissions. XP2 now follows usergroup permissions, so certain content can not be cashed.

The old method requires users to attach an image named "slide.jpg" to the first post. How is this anymore difficult? Its just attaching the image through a different form.

Is it possible to add the category name as a class for buttons?

I'm playing aroung with the Articles Widget and I would like to be able to style each categories button separately. This way, I'll be able to include category buttons inside my block and remove the ones I don't want to be displayed there such as video games categories (I will only display content type such as News, Articles, Videos etc...).

Edit : I made it myself, no problem =)

I was referring to the recent news block, that grabs images from url in xenporta 1, My forum doesn't allow (image) attachment uploads so the first image grabber in the recent news block was a great way to show image thumbnails from external sources. So if this feature still exists in xenporta 2's recent news block or whatever it is called now, I would buy it, i'm just not sure if it still does.

I assume it doesn't though. because of this:

No the slider is better i agree, Just wanted to know if it did the same as the recent news block, so thanks for clearing this up.

I mean that sounds good, until you actually think about it. When you consider that many external sources, such as ImageShack.us delete their old images after a year, is that really something you want to do? After a year, your so called "professional" looking area of your website is riddled with broken images, or possibly porn images (we had this happen, as imageshack not only deletes their old images, they reuse the image codes, and they randomly ended up being porn).

Do you want this content being controlled by an external source? Is that really what you want?

Nah it's your addon, and the people who paid for it should decide. I'm just an xenporta 1 user and liked that feature and appreciate your time making it.

Anyways this is a good addon regardless, I'm sure many people will find good use for it. Thanks for answering my questions.

Social commenting is very easy to disable. In fact, you can disable it on an article by article basis too. Tagging is handled through permissions.
Can you choose which social commenting tab shows first? Like what if I wanted to enable all 3, but have Facebook comments as the first tab comments visitors see?

Right now you can only do this with a template edit.
