This community started in 2000 as a small independent support forum for a Dutch cable internet provider (Chello/UPC). Customers of this provider can help each other with technical support issues.
In 2017, we had the opportunity to take over a similar community that was even older, it started in 1998. We wanted to merge the two communities, but it was complex. Two forums with different software: SMF and vBulletin.
Looking at the functionalities of both forums and the possibility to migrate both to one forum, we chose Xenforo. This was great because we managed to keep all the old links working thanks to the XF importer and redirect add-on.
Our users, including our moderators, got used to XF pretty quickly. Since using XF, we haven't had any major issues causing downtime or security issues.
