XF 2.4 general discussion, feedback, complaints, random off topic posts, etc.

Wait....you don't work over holidays? I need to talk to my boss... ;)
The reality is we will almost certainly be around or available if needed in some sort of (inebriated) capacity, including keeping an eye on tickets and other infrastructure matters. But yeah we’re not masochists. I don’t like doing releases any day, let alone weekends or public holidays 😅

I had DOSO (day on stay on, 7 days a week, now an illegal practice) of 0300 to 1800 through Thanksgiving till after the 1st. As much as I'd want a release before Christmas, which those hours would definitely allow for, I wouldn't want to put that on anyone.

That still doesn't mean I don't want XF 2.4 by Christmas though, but I'm hopeful before the 1st as Chris stated "not on this side of Christmas". So, 🤞

We’re not releasing XF 2.4 imminently. We haven’t announced (or finished) all of the features yet, it hasn’t been installed here yet, we haven’t done a public beta yet. A few steps to go yet.

Give us a screenshot to keep this going by guessing what there is. More than 100x100 pixels and over some content.

(Knowing your humor, it'd probably be 101x101 and of the copyright footer)

I like this no rush method.
As i mentioned earlier you don't want things to be rushed only to have mistakes made and errors to come out.
Gotta trust the process.

Enjoy it while you're young! 👍

As I've gotten older, "inebriated" means having one too many sweets (or Italian food) and falling into a sugar coma (AKA a nap). Or those times I get one of those debilitating back spasms where I have to resort to one of the "special" gummies I brought back from Colorado. (Have to admit it helps relax the muscles and makes the pain livable...but that loopy feeling isn't exactly something I look forward to. But I'll take it.)

I'm hoping all my sites behave themselves as we're taking a rare road trip over the holidays, from the 26th through Jan 5th. South, to warmer weather and (hopefully) sunshine. There are times we're not near a cell tower, so I couldn't even get messages knowing something is wrong...

I'm off on a cruise for two weeks in January so the other admin might get a chance to strut her stuff. Though I will have Internet, I find that even with Starlink as the provider for most cruise lines, it's still dicey.

Have a good one!

My one Really Bad Experience was when I was away on a road trip (of course), and our server ran out of resources. That was in the vB days and when that happened, it was like hitting a brick wall and it would slow everything down. I'm the only one who has the tech resources but luckily, our managed host was still under the original owner, and one of their techs set up a second server to run only the database. And it held us over for several months until we decided what to upgrade to.

These days the host (under new ownership) isn't all that great with help, like they used to be. That does concern me a bit, but I do have things enough in order that I probably don't have to worry about it.

Will be celebrating christmas with my family tomorrow (it's tuesday here in australia).
Then having christmas dinner with my niece and nephew's biological mother and nanna's house.
