XF 2.4 general discussion, feedback, complaints, random off topic posts, etc.

What really gets me is, rather than pandering and not changing, the XF team has literally enacted changes on all the criticism they have gotten, more so than I have ever seen from any other forum software. Yet people still act like petty children.
I think you don't understand how this works.

When there's no quick development of new features, you hear people who want quick development.

When there is a quick development, then you hear people who want slow development.

You always hear someone, not always the same people though.

@Forsaken you do have valid points here.

Also i had to look at your comments as you're on my ignore list.

I knew there would be complaints by some people.
Some of whom who will laugh react at my posts actually have the same issues later on in the year with the very same complaint i have had.

That being said i've seen some people start guessing games on when the xf developers will release their software upgrades.
Some have been angry responses.

All i do these days is not complain but try and help those who need a bit of help.
It is up to them if they want to take my advice.

I've seen people who have refused to renew their licence and refuse to upgrade their site get really annoyed at the staff here for getting all the bugs due to not upgrading. These same people have laughed reacted at me as well.

My attitude towards them stays with me as i don't think engaging with them is a good idea.

I'm in favor of dropping GIPHY support now.

I haven't complained for a while. Just giving requests.
Regarding their communication, they are more active and sharing with us now so.. all good.
Development releases, I guess it's ok. Not rushing stuff, so that's all good too.

At this moment I don't have much to complain or criticize them about.

I manage multiple development teams, so I am well aware of the idiotic hypocrisy of users.

As far as the ones complaining here... It has mostly been the same people. It's to the extent I do not think they understand what they even want, and that they just want to be problematic.

You did just last week.

I said I was dropping further discussion on this. However, I must add that forum admins are uptight about wanting to have quality content on their forums, all the while rejecting the notion of wanting AI-generated content on their forums, to defend their position on why a feature as useless as a GIF that is sub-par quality, at best, when used to convey a standalone idea shouldn't be dropped.

Quite hypocritical. But, the end on this topic.

Attachment a visualization of what I've learned these past few days...

People want high quality content to build a community, as organic content builds discussions and leads to more content.

You may be able to use AI content to generate a first topic... But to continually respond and have a good discussion is currently impossible, thus making it counterproductive to building a good community.

AI is also very prone to hallucination, pushing incorrect or dangerous information, and the legality of how certain models are trained is still problematic. Open AI for example has used data from one project I am involved with, and a lawsuit is being pursued due to it intentionally ignoring the license required to use that data outside of the scope of the free license.

I mean, if your site is low quality garbage, and you have no activity, use AI and hope you can overcome the lack of feeling of having a community, I guess. But that goes counter to every successful site I've ever seen, and just like fake users or paid posts, I am unlikely to see a successful site built with this method 🤷‍♂️.

I do not get why you have a hangup about GIPHY? Did it sleep with your spouse? Did it kill your dog, and you're going John Wick on it? If you dislike it, disable it on your site and be done with it. It is actually probably more work to remove it than it is leaving it in. And the sad reality is, most people probably wouldn't even use it as much in this thread if you weren't hyper fixating on it for some unknown reason.

Hilarious.

That's me retracting my complaint as this obviously isn't the place. Maybe I should fixate on why we don't have a CMS like everyone else in here then.

TipTap has content AI and they have the TipTap Pro license for the editor itself. Can you clarify if the TipTap implementation of only the editor would include the pro extensions? I.e. use of the Mathematics extension for example: https://tiptap.dev/docs/editor/extensions/overview
For the most part, no. But it has been noted. You are not the only one.
Aren't the Pro extensions only requires a free registration? Or XF needs an Enterprise license so that we can use the pro?

Tiptap doesn’t have any styling by default. Literally none. It doesn’t provide any UI, in fact. No toolbar, no buttons.

The entire UI you will see is built by us.

I have an editor that's even better.

It doesn't have any styling, it doesn't have any UI, no toolbar, no buttons, heck, it doesn't even have an editor - you have to build that as well!

I guarantee it will be exactly whatever you want it to be.

Just because an extension exists, doesn't mean it's something we're going to ship with XenForo. So then it becomes about what can we do to make it easier for those to be added.

Also some extensions, such as the AI and collaboration ones, require additional set up or subscription costs.

Hard pass :)

Sounds like you're looking fair and square at the basic editor @Chris D

Surprise us with everything that you're doing but don't rush it.
You're getting a little stressed.

Collaboration is free up to 5k monthly connections and 10 simultaneous connections, but anything over that will become very expensive starting at $150 a month. Content AI starts at $150 a month. Next plan is $999 a month. Unfortunately these are not easily affordable extensions.
