XF 2.4 general discussion, feedback, complaints, random off topic posts, etc.

It shouldn't have taken that long if you have a parent/child style, update the parent, and then merge the changes in the child.
How do I do this? I was using the Themehouse UI.X Dark "Framework" (for XF 2.2.x), then the child that had all my mods. But when going from 2.2.x to 2.3.4, I updated the parent style to 2.3.4, but I saw no apparent way to preserve my edits when importing the child. It just seemed to overwrite everything....

Is this not the correct procedure?

You should have been able to just update the parent style and it would have tossed out "templates not up to date" on the child, where you'd be given the option to merge the prior edits.

It'd give you 3 options: Keep the parent's modifications, keep yours, or merge the two (I believe, but I might be mistaken). In most cases, you'd keep your edits over the parent's, but you have to know what you're looking at to decide because it can have breaking changes if you keep yours instead of merging/modifying the automated suggestions.

The same applies for add ons that make template edits. When you update an add on, it'll tell you that templates are out of date, and then you merge or use the add on's edits.

If you still have your backup prior to the upgrade, I would suggest putting it up on a dev instance and trying to upgrade it again. It'll give you practice to breeze through both style and add on updates.

Cool, I appreciate your time! :)
