XenCentral Multisite System

XenCentral Multisite System [Paid] 1.11.0

No permission to buy (€69.99)
I would suggest this may be suitable for a general purpose add-on as well. I can't believe I'm the only one who wants it and a one-off may be more than we can afford in terms of development resources.

You are defintely not the only one who needs an addon to manage mulltiple separated front ends. It has come up before.

We have special licensing system for the addons, which are made for a customer but we keep the permission to release them on XenForo.com as a paid or free addon, and the initial project price is being appropriately discounted. Project review is always free, so feel free to contact us and provide your thoughts, and we will see how we can help you.

Thank you!

I've seen related questions to nesting forums, how can I do this (or is it even possible)?

MAIN FORUM SETUP

News (Category) (All sites)
- World News (Forum) (All sites)
- Cable News (Forum) (All sites)

Automotive News (Category) (Most sites)
- Domestic Car News (Category)
-- Ford News (Category) (Only Ford Sites)
--- Ford News (Forum) (Only Some Ford Sites)
--- Ford Truck News (Forum) (Only one Ford Site)

So can I arrange the layout of forums in such a way that if I got a site like FNews.com I could have it look like this.

News (Category)
- World News (Forum)
- Cable News (Forum)

Ford News (Category) (NOT nested in the Automotive News or Domestic Car News categories)
- Ford News
- Ford Truck news

(examples are updated to make it easier to understand my point)

We have contacted the author to provide us with a package to implement the support.

Basically the rule is that any selected node has to have its parent selected as well, otherwise this will break node nesting altogether. So it is not possible to have Ford News Category without having its parents Hot News and Automative News selected.

We are working now on another upgrade, trying to allow to change the visibility and display order of particular nodes, which will give some better control, but this setup will most likely still be impossible.

Thank you!

That would be awesome, because doing things the way that it's listed currently would be fine as long as I know that in advance, but the main website will be formatted with everything at the root level, so visitors to that site will not easily be able to search through for forum list. Being able to show a 2nd level category without the 1st level category would be a feature that I would very much like to see.

** Thank you for logging into my dummy forum in which I was able to reproduce the issues I was having earlier. That shows that you have good customer service and are willing to work with people who are having issues, even if they are my fault or I don't understand. A+ for effort **

Can anyone speak to the formatting issues and losing the forum home categories formatting for all secondary sites? I'm not really digging the fact that each managed domain is actually appearing with sub-forum and sub-category formatting on what should be the forum homepage. ??

More questions:
  1. How can I identify what website domain a user registered from? Is there a way to tag them with a secondary usergroup so I can see if they came into the database as a user from the main site, sub-site 1, sub-site 2, etc?
  2. How about Google Analytics for each stand-alone domain?
  3. How does the system send out notification emails? What domain will be used? If someone registers from a Sports sub-site, are they going to get notification emails coming from the News main-site?

Each site can have a different system email associated to it. On sites like mine where a person needs site admin approval, each site will send out a notification for the site being registered on. System emails sent out from the individual site will have the site name on it.
So it's just built into the backend, in phrases or something?

1. The product has two options to set the Primary and Secondary usergroups after registration. You can find these in General Options of the product. The options are empty by default, and you can just override the options for any domain entry created and set values specific to that domain.

2. Again, just override the option "Google Analytics Web Property ID" for a domain. If you need any custom JS integration, you can use Content Replacement functionality and add the code e.g. before closing </body> tag, or just create a child style and customize appropriate templates there and assign the style to the domain.

3. XenForo uses values set in XenForo Options to build email headers, including the sender. Just override the options you can find under Email Options section and you will have full control over sender email, name, sending method etc. If you need to customize text you have to create a language and assign the language to the domain.

Thank you!

This will work, I'll just set the secondary group for each site to be the site that they registered from, but I think as I keep working with this I'll have more questions that come up. Thanks though.
