XenCentral Multisite System

XenCentral Multisite System [Paid] 1.11.0

No permission to buy (€69.99)
@Mike Edge Here is the product on our website http://xencentral.com/products/multisite-system.html Subscription renewal is stated. We sent you screenshot from add-on page, subscription renewal is stated. You got 4 invoices with 3 reminders that you need to renew your subscription. Again, there are two products, add-on that you purchase and can use as long as you want and updates/support subscription that you need to renew each year to get the latest releases and support. This is the way most of software companies work. In your personal case you had about 1 year free and unpaid access to updates and support and didn't renew your subscription though you had been reminded several times. We didn't change anything in our license policy, though we have right to do so according to our terms. And we informed you several times to renew your subscription and stated about it on products page and add-on page. This is all we could do to inform you. Thank you!

The resource here nor the shopping cart that the resource links to lists a renewal. You might want to fix that for clarity's sake.

@Mike Edge consider that the product provides functionality that really needs ongoing support and that @XCentral regularly posts feature updates of the product. We can't reasonably expect any developer to keep providing updates without a small yearly fee. I think it's very reasonable for @XCentral to charge a yearly fee for Multisite.
XenCentral Framework is provided with a lifetime license and updates for that addon are free.

Your still dodging what I have asked.. Where in the resource manager does it state it? Also the purchase button leads to a WHMCS check out page, not that link you just gave. I have never seen that page before. Once again as I showed in my screenshot my invoices were canceled right after they were generated, making it appear to had been a mistake. In my over 2 years of being a client, this is the first time I have heard any mention of a subscription fee. I really felt you offering the lastest download of all products purchased was a sign of good faith.. Within an hour you changed on that and decide you would not offer it, even though it was already promised and then even updated in the next post it would be avail within 24 hours.

@Alfa1 I agree and have no issue with that. My issue is this stealth tactic they are trying to now pull and not give any notice of the changes and then further more going back on the word they gave just hours ago to try to make good on the situation.

If they want to give me access to the latest versions and then invoice me for future versions. I'm even ok with that. But to cut off my access and saying I didn't pay invoices they canceled is just wrong and that is what I have the issue with.

For what it's worth: I renewed my Multisite license earlier this year. It's not a new thing.
But @XCentral indeed should have clearly stated the renewal fee upon purchase and in the resource. The WHMCS system they use erroneously states that expired licenses are still active, while in fact its not the case. I notified them of this issue last year and they did not fix that. I am not surprised that this is upsetting.

I don't think this is a matter of intended scamming, but rather an issue of bad communication and bad licensing software choice.

It wasn't a policy change; I believe all of their add-ons have had a renewal fee associated with them since the beginning. It should be made visible on the resource manager and on their own site, but they're not changing policy and the reason as to the problem isn't uncommon with WHMCS.

Liquid Pro had a similar issue and chose to only require the latest renewal, which is the correct course of action to keep customers happy. Customers should also be allowed to let a subscription lapse and renew for updates when they choose, rather than having to pay a backlog of subscriptions.

As for the lack of visibility of the renewal, I don't think it was required when they initially posted the product.

A very good point. I was not aware that this is the case. It would be fair it @XCentral would correct this.
I'm not sure if it is the case, or whether it was an intentional decision. WHMCS is rather janky to work with and while it has a lot of functionalities, it isn't the easiest to setup quickly or properly.

They might not have the fastest support (which is common for small teams that taken on custom work), but they've been more than helpful when I contacted them and actually listen to the problem rather than shrugged it off, which is more than I can say for a lot of developers on any platform.

The add-on works fine.
301 redirect is supported by the product. If you have a main site and a secondary site created with our addon, just add new Domain entry with main site details (board URL, title etc.) and deselect the nodes you have enabled in the second site for the main site configuration. This way the forums will be available only in one of sites and if accessed using incorrect URL will redirect to the other site. You can see this in action at our demo - visting http://demo.xencentral.com/forums/demo-2-main-forum.8/ will redirect you to http://demo2.xencentral.com/forums/demo-2-main-forum.8/ as that forum is enabled for the second site and disabled for the first one.

Thank you!
Hi,

The redirect works fine for me.

There is something I dislike: When we deselect the nodes, there is no way to see "latest messages" on the main forum about the DomainB.

How could we to to display this information on the main forum ?

Best regards

Does that mean that with the latest update posts from hidden/unselected nodes will now be visible?

The feature mentioned allows you to choose if you want them to be visible or no. By default it is Off, which means New Posts/Recent Posts page will show the posts from all sites.

Thank you!

The 301 redirect is not working for me when I go to a node that is not part of the managed domain. Was I supposed to alter the .htaccess file or something?

Hello, @StonePilot !

The redirects definitely work in case of proper setup. Please update your ticket with admin panel login information and we will check your setup. Please post only in one of our support sections, as we monitor them both. Please also reconsider your review on Resource page, as this is not a bug in the product.

Thank you!

With so many pages of responses, it's hard to see whether this question has been answered.

We have two forums that use Resource Manager to provide access to member upgrade features, which include special versions of our radio shows. Obviously each forum has a separate roster of upgraded members. Is there any way for your add-on to integrate these systems and provide a way to sell member upgrades that support either or both forums? And if so, how does that impact existing upgrades?

Does this even make sense?

Hello, @Gene Steinberg !

At first, you need to merge two forums to use our product, as our product works on single XenForo installation, making it look like there are different sites, but they are actually based on single XenForo instance. Once you have your user base and resources merged, you may just categorize your resources in different categories, and with our product you can make a resource viewable only on one domain. In this case your user upgrades will most likely list upgrades for both forums.

Please let us know if you still have any questions.

Thank you!

Oh, that won't work. We need to keep the two forums, with different domains, separate as far as memberships and content is concerned as they deal with totally different subjects. It's just that there is some cross-pollination among members, and we wanted to offer an opportunity to provide combo memberships.

Oh well!

I see. Our addon is definitely not for that. It "splits" one installation into two, but doesn't integrate separate installation in any way. If you have any custom requirements we should be able to help you as a separate project. Feel free to submit a ticket at https://desk.xencentral.com/ with a specification and we will review it and provide the terms to handle it.

Thank you!
