Xen Notices [Deleted]

Uncaught SyntaxError: Unexpected token ;

Could be a pretty big problem.

You've previously been censoring your site URL. You haven't in this screenshot, but it enabled me to look at what code was causing that error.

That error is caused by this line of code in a template:

<script>$(".twitter-tweet").children("p").css("border-bottom", "3px double rgb(208, 208, 208)"), ;</script>

I'm pretty sure the erroneous character on that line is the comma I've highlighted in red.

Is this an add-on? A template edit?

XenPorta has a twitter module that is buggy I guess, disabled that and the facebook fan box. I also disabled a similar addon. I saw the notice for the first time in one of a thread :)

How I get it to show up on XenPorta (frontpage)?

They are e-mailed to you after an update is released.

Any e-mail you may have received previously contains a download link. That download link will always give you the latest version.

If you don't have any previous e-mails, PM me with your e-mail address and I'll let you know your download link.

Great :)

Probably the easiest way is under "Page Criteria" set the "Selected Navigation Tab" to "home".

notification center is wonderful idea .. great move!
Credit for that idea goes to Peter Schmitz!:

If this would support the ability to setup from thefront-end (rather than just the admin panel) combined with the ability to only let specific usergroups create them (and the ability to configure how many alerts can be sent on a daily/weekly/monthly basis), you'd be looking at something that could be a great way for premium memberships or site sponsors or something along those lines.

Perhaps also give admins the ability to add a small text and/or link to every alert to notify others how they could get this ability.

I'd pay for that. I'd say 15-20 bucks, perhaps more, depending on the extra features you might add.

If you closed the notice, then it won't show again until you next restart your browser.

I resetted the notification, restarted the browser and added home into the page criteria. Still doesn't show up nowhere. I'm not comfortable disabling mod_sec as it's been a huge help preventing malicious attempts. You can add an exception but I don't know how. Disabled for now...

If I have 10 notifications, 8 in group A and 2 in group B, can I set up so that the notifications in group A are shown up randomly 50% of the time and the 2 in group B show up 50% of the time?

Can the notifications be stacked? Say, one notification from group B is on top, another one from group A is underneath it?

I'm not sure what you mean by Group A and Group B. This add-on has no sort of grouping of notifications. Nor is there any sort of weighting involved to randomise the order they are shown.

Ok, let me rephrase.
If i have 10 similar notification, each one is a random quote, is there a way for me to show one at a time using the same criteria for members/location/etc

Yes, actually, you can do that as it is part of the Notices criteria so you can target Notifications in the same way:

Chris,

Have you considered somehow making this behave similar to FaceBook chat and letting people directly communicate with one another?

I imagine something like the stickies can be used by specific usergroups, and they will always be on top, with the chatfunction basically acting like a big "super notification", where the last <configured option amount> messages are combined into a single bubble, or something along those lines.

We use TaigaChat, which works pretty alright for us, but seeing we have it showing under the forum list for practical purposes, it tends not to get used too much. Having a FB-like chat empowered by your add-on would be a real neat way to get people involved in the forum.

The sound notification is there, as is the graphical "bubble".

Use the source!

I may have found a small "buglet" in the addon. I have the following setup: Category -> Forum -> Sub-Forum. If I try to use the notification to only display a notice when they go into the top forum or the sub-forums and try to use any of the variables ( {name}, {boardurl}, etc). it will only show that text, not the name of the user, etc. It appears that those variables can only be used from (what I've used so far) the page criteria that points to "Selected Navigation Tabs".

I absolutely agree that functionality would be awesome, but it would need to be based on something much more robust. The particular jQuery plugin (Gritter) used to power the notifications looks and acts great, but I can't begin imagine how horrible it would be turn into anything more.

It's something that would either need to be written from scratch or something third-party that already exists that could be integrated into XenForo.

Maybe it's something I could look at taking on at some point.

Hi Tracy,

Thanks for buying the add-on, first of all. It's much appreciated.

I have just tested this, and it seems to be working fine:
