It just hunts me... why avoid www. on websites scripts/urls? Any specific reason or just the way you guys are used to running the forums?

I'm more interested in why you think it is needed?

I don't really see the need to host the site on a sub-domain, and it makes it quicker for the user to type.

Ehr, the whole SEO stuff makes the links way longer than leaving out the www makes it shorter.

I don't care either way though, just wanted to comment on it.

Lol exsactly the SEO urls already makes it longer, why would you want to add ANOTHER 4chars ;)

Of course on your site you can choose to use www. with your xenForo install if you want though I recommend that you make it so that it only works with www. or only works without ;)

www. is a relict from the dark ages of the internet. I never use it anymore. And the few websites who are reachable with www and not without, incur my wrath. My wrath consists of saying "fail" out loud. :D
