It's like the million dollar man. We can rebuild it. We can make it faster, stronger.....

Look, even if you hate the design because it look to "gray", you can customize it to match EXACTLY like the old one.

Yes, maybe some new add-ons will be required to make some bb code. I myself wanted a few little things in the core too. But you're really getting more in the long rung & I'm sure others will develop code for it.

in 1990 screens were black and white. In 2013 they show colors, many.

What about the order of the buttons? Can we style those?... It's awkward to see the undo/redo buttons at the very end... I'm use to see them, on pretty much every editor software, at the beginning... font-family first and then the font-size... etc...
I know, i'm being picky, but just asking for future planning...

When inspecting the elements, it's just a case of rearranging the order of the HTML.

Whether it'll be that easy in the templates is another story.

I agree the new default looks a little clunky & silvery, I'm sure once people start releasing new icons for it and showing us how to style it everyone will think it's great. Maybe xenforo can update it a little to make it look a little better.

Always funny how things 'look' can influence such rage even though the new editor is clearly superior.

I couldn't be bothered to change the spritesheet location and with the icons obviously needing adjusting being dark you can see why i never displayed them. This is a case of using one's imagination at the potential.

Good point.
I suggest Shelley tweak the editor style before the blandness is released.
Maybe there could be admin options:

Editor style:
[x] bland [ ] less bland
[x] devoid of all colour [ ] a bit of colour.
[x] icons that make you want to kill yourself from boredom itself [ ] remain alive

I really don't understand the annomoyisty and I think everyone is missing the point.

1) TinyMce was full of bugs and had to be changed either up a version or to something else

2) Xenforo devs are more comfortable with redactor so decided rather than update TinyMce they would integrate redactor

3) Redactor does everything TinyMce can do and more

4) Changing buttons / layout / colour is much easier to achieve in Redactor

So lets -

1) Build a bridge

2) Cross that bridge

3) work out how to customise it to your needs and do it or write an addon

Mike, Kier, Brogan and all the devs need constructive feedback not just these idle comments like "I don't like the colour".

The current editor doesn't bother me and the new one, isn't an issue for me either

TinyMCE could be customised, it was just painful as the CSS was a mess.

Because the old one was trash. I spend several hours a day blogging via XF, and a significant amount of the time is wasted repeatedly try to get the old piece-of-trash editor to display things as I entered them.
