No, if left completely blank (no spaces, nothing). There will be none of your code in there. So it can't be your code. The default code is imported on install (and upgrades).
And let me go ahead and clarify unless your code text box is completely blank and at least one checkbox (we're talking about the main tab) is checked, that's when it will show the default. So if you leave it blank and have no ad locations enabled, no defaults will display.

Okay, let me go ahead and show my thought process behind this. First off, I originally only had the template for testing for me. However, I decided...you know what? I'm going to leave it in. Not to be sneaky, but to give people a choice. Now with the 2.0.0 update, you can even support me through the ads.
Don't have the $15 to pay for branding removal? That's okay! I'll let you slide if you enable an ad location with the default ad, and now with custom ads you can have both.
By having the default ad, it goes directly into my adsense. And no, I will not allow any sort of porn advertisements on sites. I have that and a few other categories disabled. I see.. it is a Little bit sneaky.. You should probably mention that, not write "a default code"?
Sorry, for some reason I feel less compelled to buy you a coffee now..
I should add in your defence, since I haven't set up ad sense account it was also a tiny little bit helpful, to see how it would look, still not sure about a coffee though..

Agreed, it is and I didn't even really think about it.
I'll fix that right now actually.
The thing I thought was a bug was not. However there's a few typos I have to fix so I'll upload that as 2.0.1.
My sincerest apologies about the unintentional sneakiness.

The coffee is far from required and is completely up to how you feel; but again the best I can do is apologize for that because it was by no means meant to be sneaky. It was just there and I never really gave it a second thought.
I'll also add in the answer that this was originally written for a site that I run so that default is a fall back for us if our custom code no longer works.

hm the individual group ads is definitely something I could do. I'll look into it!

Something like the rotating ads suggestion. And yes, what you suggested as well. 10 ads in a column, they can scroll. Or they fade out only to replaced by new ads,... whatever!

Well the rotating ads suggestion is talking about ads that rotate in and out based on the date.
