The Ladies' Lounge

Been a big day for everyone :D

So happy to have a definate date and pricing!

But getting back to girls chat.. what's happening ladies? Lunch time Tuesday here, just about to have some lunch - as I haven't eaten today I am kind of really hungry :p

Good morning ladies. It's 10:50am here and I'm still struggling to get going. Need to do some electrical work in the kitchen today, but I HAVE to get some new content on our homepage. Soooo not motivated at the moment. Hate that!

And how are you?

Don't you hate it when your muse decides to go on strike? Mine went on strike for about 2 months, the witch.

It was thundering here a bit ago...wondered if I was gonna be able to stay online. But it seems to have settled down now.

Merry meet ladies thank you for this thread.
I'm based on the Welsh border with England, UK. Cas Newydd or Newport as it is in English.

I have 2 forums one is a Pagan community with a lot of Celtic stuff - that one is asleep and I plan to wake it up with XF. Celtic traditions yummy. It's on www.housemorgain.co.uk
My other forum is a small professional education project. XF there too as soon as I can get a key mod done.

I first started in online communities 1997 - a bit later tried e107 but it was too hard though the support community was nice. I qualified in online education 2000 and ran some international academic seminars. VB came next and now XF.

I'm handfast 20 years to a wild Welshman - I'm originally a Londoner. We have one young adult son who's training as an online teacher with me. Six Cats - we like Siberians, Maine Coon - big solid courteous intellifgent ladies. Like me :)

As for men well they are terribly delicate creatures who need frequent female nurturing to cope with life - this is borne out by hard research! So female attention is their breath of life. Not getting it is very uncomfortable for them which is why anything closed off for women disturbs them. They do get used to it in time.

I was fascinated by Kier's statistics but not surprised. Among Pagans it's fairly well recognised that communication and organisation is best done by women. You get the exceptions (like Kier) but as a general rule men are better being given specific projects rather than overall management. Complexity and the unpredictable is easier for women - brains evolved for childcare.
Don't get me wrong. I love (good quality) men. My husband, my son, my best mate are great guys. Some cool ones on this board too. Ii love (some) male humour, their wildness, the sexiness of my husband and my best friend; their toughness at certain moments when I'm still trying to balance things out.

My son has just gone off to cook Dover sole for supper. I am glowing with virtue having been swimming at the health club - recently discovered Ballantyne's is just as cheap as the public baths and MUCH nicer. Swimming later in the day has gleaming brilliant blue lights in the water with no overhead lights ... then flop in the spa. Mmmm.

Will check back ....

I've seen you around the board, Shanj, didn't realize you were female....should have guessed tho, LOL

My husband gave me two daughters when we married. (he's been married before). Both are grown and married so we are empty-nesters. We are also retired. Not really by choice tho. We have 5 cats of various origins. We live in the mountains around Knoxville, Tennessee in a town called Oak Ridge which has a very intriguing history.

I've been running forums now for just over five years...mostly for my own pleasure. My latest one is attached to my scrapbooking store. Not sure what I will do exactly with the XF license I plan on purchasing but I will be buying one. Mine started on phpbb, moved to vb very quickly and have stayed there til now.

Got lost and discovered more of this thread.
Wanted to say - fellow feeling Peggy - I was a late mother at 42 and later that year crashed health into pretty much bedridden for a while. I call it ME but who knows? some kind of virus.
It centres on my chest and I found high doses of echinacea really help =- 1000mg every day and around 3000 every 4 hours if I'm sick. Also I use a steamer gadget I got. Sauna is good. Last Spring I had a bad collapse and couldn't get better - tried a colonic cleanse and it helped amazingly.

On the menstrual front I told her firmly that she'd done her job. My son was around 10 and doing fine. She went to sleep a couple of months after I said goodbye to her.
Only problem is I always used menstrual blood to maintain the skin of my Celtic bodhran drum. It was just the best and now I'm a bit stuck - it's not the kind of thing you can beg off a friend!

oooh why? what makes me come across female?

I often see your posts and I always like them.

I doubt I'll be able to retire until I'm too decrepit to sit up in a padded chair and click!
The pension rules changed over here and left me stranded. Right now I'm putting my son through the Open University and one day he hopes to take over the business. But he'll need me for many years yet.

I'd love to retire I have so many other projects ... want to do a lot more in the Pagan community which is nowadays infested with the commercialism and passivity that's everywhere else. So I can't retire there either the old matriarch has gotta stay on the job.

Then there's this 1580 manor house I'm renovating ...

What about Oak Ridge? I'm a history buff though very ignorant about America.

I'll just play with XF first and see if I can use it on House Morgain. I never went further than VB 3.8, usual story - disgusted.
I can do ordinary html enough for Pages though CSS I just tweak others' stuff ditto PHP.
Need a coder to do a mod for me. Know a good one?

A cat person - and lovely cats at that! =^..^=

ROFL - I think I'm going to like you! :D

Mainly the fact that you are so articulate.

Then there's this 1580 manor house I'm renovating ...

OHHHH, I'd love to have a manor house even half that old to play with...okay, one even 100 years old but the chances around here are slim and none! We'd have to move out of the area and we love it here.

As for Oak Ridge, we are known as the Secret City (one of four cities that were part of the Manhattan Project back during WWII. In fact, right down the road from our house is one of the guard houses that was part of the complex from that time. We are also home to the world's fastest computer.  We are also part of the Appalachian Mtn system which is an interesting ecosystem. We actually get enough rainfall on average to qualify as a temperate rainforest.

Unfortunately my coder is no longer easily accessible. I'm having to learn more and more myself.

Hi there Shanj :) welcome into the Ladies Lounge! Thanks for the intro, lovely to know a little more about you :D

Your life seems very interesting and rich with the good stuff! I loved your insight into men :D Having 3 brothers and growing up in a *very* male household I know exactly what you mean... Men can be just so yummy and yet they are so very delicate too in a lot of ways :p I longed for a sister during childhood, some more female energy would have been very welcome!

:)

Well from your name we have a lot in common. Now my elegant golden ring striped Morgaina is looking reproachful which means I'm supposed to go to bed.

Good night. So glad to have found you all. I was feeling a bit swamped with the guys even though there are lots of nice ones. :)

Dragonfly I'm already your fan.

Well thank you Shanj, what a nice thing to say

I am looking forward to getting to know you better, already I have greatly appreciated your strength and insight when you have been posting here, I get the need for very clear communication you have been striving for when asking questions, it can be frustrating I know when things are vague or less than clear.

Seems I am having trouble communicating today, I have just sat here for 10 minutes trying to put into words what I am thinking lol...

.... I think I need more coffee. :p

Glad to meet you Shanj! Very well put personal history - I feel I know you a bit now. We're renovating an 80 year old Sears House. Not exactly a manor house, but old and dusty just the same. The oldest thing we have is a tall case clock from 1780 or so - fully 200 years younger than your house!

This week is being difficult. I've got work to do and no energy to do it. Blah!

So, wait - you're saying I can just say goodbye to menstruation and be done with it? That would be nice...

I haven't come across you on the boards but you were a treasure to discover starting this thread.

Small chunks of work broken up with little rests?
A scented bath but not too long say 15 mins?

A big remedy is a plain bowl of salt water - hold both hands - look in the water. say 'I put into the bowl ...' anything tiresome or tiring - lack of sleep, lack of fun, backache, personal conflict etc etc Speak slowly out loud. Pour water down the toilet to be recycled.
Has a powerful cleansing effect on fatigue.

Well I am a witch so I'd had some practice of talking with my body! But yes that is what I did. My body is used to being respected and cherished for her needs so the other side of that is sometimes I make requests.

By the way ... everyone ... I think this thread is a prime example of how Groups could be used.
To have a front Page with some pics to make it lively, and explaining what the Ladies Lounge is.
Plus maybe the names of key members with avatar pics and names, locations poss a bit more.
Links to key posts with explanations or esp good humour ...
and privacy.

I'm part of a team, with my husband being more the technical one. Often on the boards, I read and discuss with him and then he does the posting. I started this thread so that I'd feel more involved because if I got involved with every thread out there, I'd never get anything done!

Good ideas. Very often it's my iron levels that are low (chronic anemia), which can sometimes be rememdied with a good load of iron-laden foods. But sometimes it's more mental fatigue which is harder to deal with. :(

As well it should be.

Agreed.

Have a great day, ladies - I'm off to do some wiring!

Dragonfly you really shouldn't encourage the guys to talk about balls they're far too likely to do it anyway. Naughty.

Today's weather? Sunny outside dull inside. No website work done and no hairbrushing either. Which with hair way down below my waist that is baaaad. Seriously considering dreads.
Although as it feels like midnight but only 9pm there's hope yet.

To continue the New York City conversation here...as not as many guys stick their noses in here...

My husband and I are having weight loss surgery the first week of November. We may have a date for sure...pending insurance approval. So most of our visit to NYC will be spent either in the hospital or recovering from surgery.
