We can all "wave around the bible" Michael, even you can, because you are living on land that in the name of the "God of the Bible" was taken by force by the White man.

Are you now a hypocrite ?

Maybe you should donate your land to the rightful owners right now.

Nobody owns any land and it was not taken. If the bible teaches us one thing and that's not to think, and/or ask those fundmental questions. Land, the earth we walk upon was here long before "man" walked the earth and will be there long after. I thought I'd just throw some fuel in here and get you all conveying your points of view across. :D

Imagine being the guy carving the calender into a stone or whatever... I would of said f- this a lot sooner than when I got to 2012... it's no wonder he stopped just a wonder that he didn't stop sooner HAHAHAHA

Interesting reaction. The 'weak' minded? Can you give a definition of that classification? You are entitled to think something is 'the stupidest theory ever', but to say that 'no one would even really know about it until some idiots made a movie of it' is something that is not quite in line with reality. At least, the reality for a large amount of people. Obviously everyone has it's own truth/reality and one's level of awareness plays a major role in it. The fact of the matter is that for a large population on Earth the '2012' phenomenon is everything but 'a stupid theory'.

:) A debate. Now its time to have some fun.

"Weak mindedness is the state of being easily impressionable or possessing a weak sense of self-will, judgement or conviction."

Read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weak_minded (its very, very short)

What is your favorite news station? Do you believe everything that your new station broadcasts? Have you ever wondered if a topic they cover may have bias opinions? If you have ever disagreed with your favorite news station, that is a good sign that you might not be "weak minded."

Media (movies, music, news, tv, radio, billboards, books, and even verbal stories shared between two people, etc) has the ability to create a "Yes I agree" or "No I disagree" judgement in ones mind, based off that persons life experiences.

Example of two topics both covered a lot on United States news stations:
"Yes I agree" that 'going green' will help improve the environment for the better.
"No I disagree" that 'on shore' drilling is good for America.

You say a major portion of earths population is concerned or have wondered about the 2012 theories did you not? But why do ALL of these people have this sudden concern with 2012? I assure you that if it was not for the movie and the media about 2012 MOST people in the world would not know about it and for good reason.

If my grandmother made the "best" pies in the world and they made a hollywood film about it. A lot of people would know my grandmother makes great pie and then wonder "how good is this pie, is it really the best in the world." But Hollywood HASN'T made a film so how would you know if her pies were good or not? You wouldn't know by default.

What I am trying to say is, yes there are a lot of educated people that know and study the Mayan culture and their calendar system, but MOST people in the would could CARE LESS. In a world that is all about "Me" and "I" people are not concerned with the past but the future and mostly themselves.

I would also be willing to bet that their are more people working for the McDonalds corporation than their are historians in the entire world. Think about that. Let it soak in. Why is that a fact? Because people now a' days don't care about the past.

I stick with my original post. Stupid people believe movies and stupid theories. 2012 is a prime example.

Ya 2012 could be real to some masses, but for us LOGICAL thinking folk, we know better. To deny science is like denying yourself supper after a looooong hard day at work.

By the way, the poll results in this thread speak for themselves.

What do I believe? I know we will be here until the sun eats the earth or until we are blown up by crazy terrorists people. But until that time comes, science is a "religion" I refuse to not believe.

Science says the earth has been here for billions of years and science says the earth will be here for another billion years. If people choose to live ignorantly and believe this 2012 mess, let them. You can only help someone that wants to be helped. If people really believed that the ultimate destruction is coming, you better start building your spaceship.

Next argument. Some people also believe that Confucius for told all these prophecies that came true. Dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb...........

Well I am the next Confucius and my prediction is,

"When the stars are vivid, and the time is right, it will be Americas time to pay, so only go out in the light."

I just predicted something crazy will happen at some point in time and guess what, ITS ALREADY TURE. Why? How? Am I sure? YES. Anything can happen in the right time frame. Confucius, fortinue tellers, Mrs. Cleo, are all pure 100% rubbish and so is 2012.

Please feel free to quote me on everything I say. Please challenge and question my views as I have no problem explaining myself and my logic.

;)

By the way.... Aren't we talking about the same people that used to believe that if they sacrificed virgins and livestock that this would appease the Gods? You know so the rain would come and the crops would grow?

If you choose to believe in this civilization, and their practices and their theories, then by all means believe it.

For me personally, GODS don't bring the rain, weather is created by pressure systems and other non-godly factors. And guess what the Mayans couldn't have been that smart. Why? Well.... Have you ever met a Mayan before ;)

I would think that it's common knowledge by now that low pressure and high pressure battling it out to come to an equilibrium is what creates the weather systems on earth. Though I am tempted to perform a war dance so I can get a little rain here to water my withering plants. :D

Personally the mistake here is these theorists/historians who decipher these markings/scribblings/drawings and that the Mayans were just plain bored and had nothing to do than scribble. humans naturally will try to enforce order out of chaos.

1. Anything is possible (some of us won't even make it to 2012).
2. You are free to believe what ever it is that you want to believe.
3. Don't put words in people's mouths.

Sorry to analyze your post like this, but...

....but MOST people in the would could CARE LESS.
The phrase is "couldn't care less". I'm sure you'll understand why if you think about it. ;)

Next argument. Some people also believe that Confucius for told all these prophecies that came true.
First of all, it's "foretold". Secondly, I believe you mean Nostradamus? As far I know, Confucius didn't actually predict anything significant, he only spoke a lot of cool proverbs and stuff.

Sorry, but I just got up a few minutes ago and haven't had my coffee.

I see, thank you for explaining it more clearly now. Glad I asked it, because the words 'weak minded' sound rather negative (to me) without this explanation.

What is your favorite news station? Do you believe everything that your new station broadcasts? Have you ever wondered if a topic they cover may have bias opinions? If you have ever disagreed with your favorite news station, that is a good sign that you might not be "weak minded."

I fully agree with everything you say above.

You say a major portion of earths population is concerned or have wondered about the 2012 theories did you not?

Yes, I did. But unfortunately I closed all my browser tabs yesterday before I saved (maybe some kind of auto-save functionality would be good for XenForo?) the last sentence I added to this post. This sentence was:

But obviously the topic starter and yourself are talking about the (predications of) the physical end of the world. Whereas I and others are referring to the symbolic meaning (of the predications) of the end of the world.

... So what I meant by 'The fact of the matter is that for a large population on Earth the '2012' phenomenon is everything but 'a stupid theory' is those people who see '2012' as something different then the literal interpretation that it will be the physical end of the world, which it will obviously not be. So this has not much to do with any hollywood movies where it is doom and gloom. The interpretation of this large population is quite the opposite really from the fear-based movies that have been released.

But why do ALL of these people have this sudden concern with 2012? I assure you that if it was not for the movie and the media about 2012 MOST people in the world would not know about it and for good reason.

Yes, if you are talking about ignorant people (not the population I am talking about) then you are absolutely right.

Sure! I fully agree: in fact I am also a person who doesn't give a sh*t ;) about the past really. I always hated history-lessons at school... I am much more future-minded then past-minded myself. To take it even further... I didn't have any clue whatsoever about the Mayas 2-3 years ago and honestly I don't know anything more then they predicted something in relation to 2012 ;). But I guess I am not fit to be classified as a 'weak-minded' person :), because I follow my own heart/intuition instead of predications/interpretations of others/movies/etc.

I stick with my original post. Stupid people believe movies and stupid theories. 2012 is a prime example.

I wouldn't classify people as 'stupid' if they are less in contact with their inner truth...

Ya 2012 could be real to some masses, but for us LOGICAL thinking folk, we know better. To deny science is like denying yourself supper after a looooong hard day at work.

By the way, the poll results in this thread speak for themselves.
Which... I agree upon because the world is indeed not going to end the way the topic starter meant it.

There is a lot of truth in that sentence. Even the last bit....

Well... I tried to quote you on as much as possible :p. It's clear that the predications can be explained in different ways and this makes discussing it a bit more difficult. I actually agree with every statement that the (physical) world is obviously not going to end. Having said that... it actually is going to end in the way we know it. But on a different level and this is already happening actually.

Not true here in the USA Shelley, when the nation was founded gigantic land grants were given to settlers and they were given title to "the land" by "the government", so as long as you pay your real estate taxes the land is yours to use, mine, lease, build on or sell.

Land was taken in this nation by "The White Man", our first President was and worked for a land Baron, the "White Man" (Europeans) systematically killed all the Buffalo to starve out the Indians to complete their mission in "taking the land", our justice system then placed the "Native Americans" on reservations (today we call them internment camps) and "The Indians" were not "free" like "American Citizens".
