Might be able to accomplish that by checking if they have {$visitor.externalAuth.steam}. That uses the SteamID64 of the browsing user if they have authed with Steam.

I have migrated from IPS Community Suite which allowed users to register with their Steam accounts, however, upon importing all the data to my new XenForo forums and installing this addon, users can no longer sign in with their Steam account, instead, it creates a new forum account for said user after logging in with their Steam on XenForo.
What can I do to fix this issue?

Because the Steam addon for IPS is third party and this addon is third party, the XenForo importer doesn't migrate that data.
Unfortunately, the only thing I can recommend is to have users re-auth by logging in with a username and password, then linking their steam account through External Authentication.

The accounts need passwords and e-mails associated with them so users can log in to auth. If no e-mails or passwords were associated with the account then they cannot.
The only way it might work without having to do that is if you get your hands dirty and code a PHP script and/or MySQL query that moves all your users' SteamIDs from the IPB database to xf_user_external_auth with the provider being steam, the provider_key being the users' SteamID64 number, and the user_id being the XenForo user id.
Unfortunately I cannot help with above or guarantee that the process will actually work (this is just a theory).
I also can't provide any code to do this as I cannot support the IPB addon.

I posted in your support ticket, I made this little add-on awhile back that I forgot to post. This is specific to XenBase powered styles
It'll add the plugin in all the right locations and also add some CSS styling for the steam login button.

Could be an issue with DNS on your host. I would also recommend having cURL enabled if possible. The performance would be much better.

This won't work either. As users can still log in with their account username & password and have their steam account associated.
Figured I might as well go the user criteria and user promotions route. Only to find that it's hardly working.
This is what I have set up:
1) Created a new group called "Steam Associated"
2) Created a new user group promotion, checked off the group "Steam Associated" in the "Add User to User Groups" option,
3) In the "Apply This Promotion While..." options, I put the "Steam Integration" option to "Steam state is: Associated". https://snap.me/2XDQV9
4) Saved.
However, it only promoted 2 people. Even if I run the command manually. There are hundreds of users who have their steam account associated so I am not sure what is wrong with this.

Thank you for the bug report, I'll look into this. Are you getting any errors at all as well? It'll be a little harder for me to track down as I don't have as large of data set to work with, but I can start poking around.
If I can't start on it this weekend, then I can start on it sometime at the end of August or beginning of September (have to go out of town for two weeks). I've been holding off a little bit as bugs get worked out, but it sounds like they are getting closer to a RC.
Also in the process of attempting to make a change in my professional life, so I've been focused on that as of this moment.

You can do that easily for sure. There are template hooks that can grab the user's SteamID64 information. I believe I mentioned it earlier in the thread:

Which version of XenForo and Steam Auth are you using?
When you say the other external auths are not active.... Are the buttons disappearing from the template when Steam Auth is enabled, or do the social buttons exist, but they don't function correctly? What happens when you try to use one?
