Star Trek Into Darkness

either way, i would not mind seeing another ST series come out with a new cast, and crew....
and the story starts 100 years after TNG....The Next Century 2.0
(dumb as hell, i know....)
If history were to repeat itself.... TNG "Phase II" would start to have some pre-production work on it, never get off the ground, have some movies made using inspiration from the Phase II scripts, the movies become popular, a new series (The Next Next Generation?) is introduced that ends up using some Phase II plot elements & scripts, occasionally a nod is given to pay homage to the original TNG, and the fans start dividing amongst those who like the TNNG versus those who like the 'classic' TNG with a big argument being who is the better captain.

:coffee:

I'm a totally lucky man right now. We have two TV stations here which are broadcasting TNG and VOY from 2pm to 8pm.
And next month I'll begin with purchasing the remastered TNG on Bluray.

damn, if it was on my TV, I would surely be watching, I would rather watch ST re-runs rather then junk I see on TV....

The next future Trek needs to happen well into the future that the technology has been invented to "warp" between galaxies as easily as they did planets in TOS. The Federation at this point is the entire milky-way.

+1 for trek history

I would like to see a new series that picks up on Q's lesson at the very end of TNG. I can't find the clip, but I will recite from memory:

Q: We wanted to see if you had the ability to expand your horrizons, and for one brief moment you did.
Picard: When I realized the paradox.
Q: Exactly. For that one brief moment your mind was open to possibilities you had never considered. That is the exploration that awaits you. Not the charting of nebula, but exploring the unknown possibilities of existence.

TNG was in large part about exploring unknowns. Q just put emphasis on it, expanding the scope of that premise.

Now you talking about low quality or even below grade of even the worst ST episode.
If district 9 aliens were in a ST movie, then they would have been unique i guess....
but I think district 9 itself was wrong on so many levels....

I can watch the worst episode of ST, no matter which one it maybe over and over....

but I never watched district 9 more then once....

I actually wasn't referring to them (aliens) being in Star Trek. More saying the last sci-fi movie to have any originality was district 9 as far as sci-fi movies go which is what I think Star Trek - The darkness will be, just another sci-fi movie and in my mind nothing at all star trek related. IMO of course, I'm sure many others think differently.

ROFLMAO - Awesome Find Jake.

And from what I said previously: Star Trek - The Darkness: Just another bad Sci-Fi movie with no relation to star trek and/or start trek universe.Terrible terrible going to be complete and utter garbage which the big budget won't even save it from being Garbage wrapped in great PR.

*watches again*

It's too bad you guys are hating on this new film before it even comes out, because everything I've read so far suggests it's exactly what you've been complaining the last movie wasn't. Relevant to our times.

Nothing bad about it. Not even complaining, but if I am complaining in your eyes then that's an issue you have to come to terms with. It's not a star trek movie, just like if I slapped an apple badge on my zx-81 wouldn't make it a mac apple device. :D

No... Some take place in the past. One movie took place in 1984 San Francisco.
But didn't they go back in time to be there?....I thought they did a flight maneuver to send them back to 1984?

I mean I understand that they went back to a time closer to our present time...but in effect before they did that and even after, they would still be from 2200's right? If so, I would consider the storyline to not be the 1900's so much as that is secondary to when the main characters arrived from. I think of 1984 in that movie as a setting and less part of the overall startrek timeline.

Maybe I just understand it wrong.

Yes they did go back in time to be there but to me if 90% of a movie is set in 1984 and only 10% is set in 22xx or whatever year, it counts as a movie set in 1984.

There was an episode of DS9 i believe, maybe a couple, that could better different timelines. One we're not sure if it was a dream/vision or not.
