sonnb - XenGallery (XenForo Gallery) [Deleted]

Hey @sonnb When we view an album that has nothing but videos, the thumbnail sends us to the video

BUT the title link sends us to the 'photo' which doesn't exist.

I'm getting this as well, about to dig through all of these posts in the thread but it's a common term for a photo gallery so there's a lot to sit through.

Video thumbnails in the various widgets are going to Photos.

../forum/gallery/photos/this-is-the-video

and the video is actually here:

../forum/gallery/video/this-is-the-video

Yes, I can confirm that. It will be fixed.

I'm using the Showcase plugin from Bob B. Great plugin. I was wondering if it would be possible to develop a bridge so that users could associate albums with Showcase items. Maybe when they create albums they could choose which of their Showcase items to associate with the album. And then in their Showcase they would have a tab to display them. Personally, I'd like to limit gallery submissions so that users can only submit gallery content if they tie it to Showcase items. I don't want gallery content being posted without an association to a showcase item. I'd like to replace the built-in image gallery feature in Showcase.

Is this possible to get developed? What would it cost? PM me if you want.

I have a VBulletin 4.2.2 forum with a gallery in Photopost.

I've converted the forum to XF 1.3. Can I use the photopost importer to convert my gallery to XG? I have not moved it over to my Xenforo forum. Will a Photopost gallery that was used in Vbulletin import properly?

Yes you can do that.

It sounds interesting but unfortunately I am unable to do that at this time.

Yes you can do that.

I did, and it worked fairly well. I've got some sorting and organizing to do, but all in all, it worked well. Question for you, when it imported the categories, they all showed up in my name. If I was to edit the database and change it to a different user, would that break anything?

Also, I see an option to import photos into the gallery from the forum. Exactly how does that work? Can you point me to a tutorial or instructions on how it's done, how you select photos, that sort of thing?

You can change it from database. It is fine.

For instance, you have a forum (node) which used to be a gallery forum where users upload their photos. So you can import all the photos inside this forum into the XenGallery.

OK, so I made a node and moved one thread there to try it. It seems to have worked fine, and it's a cool feature.

I'm having some trouble with the "next" and "previous" arrows though. In particular, this photo: http://www.gardenforums.com/forum/index.php?gallery/photos/long-view-800x530.10405/ seems to break them.

You can start at another photo, say this one: http://www.gardenforums.com/forum/index.php?gallery/photos/new-dock-800x530.10404/ and it lets you scroll through images just fine for a few images. But when you get to http://www.gardenforums.com/forum/index.php?gallery/photos/long-view-800x530.10405/ by using the arrows, you're stuck. You're not going forward or back. What's wrong?

Another problem I've run into, unrelated to the above. So the import went well, and I imported an entire node. (For my first experiment I made a node and moved a single thread to it.) A bunch of albums were created, including a couple with only one or two photos.

Ok, no problem, I expected that. I've got a general album called "flowers", I'll just move them there. When I click "edit" on the photo and try to move it, the only place I can move it to is an album that I created. I just double checked, and all of the general albums I created are set that everyone can upload to them. Note that I created them under a different user name I set up for that purpose. I tested it, and it will allow me to upload a photo to that category. Why can I not move one from somebody else's album there, even though I'm an admin?

I need to check this, an user reported it as well.

Yes, this is expected. Currently, you can only move contents to your own albums, not the albums where you have permission to upload. This is applied for administrators as well. Maybe I can add a textbox where you can input the album ID. Just imagine, how hard is it if you have 2000 albums in the select.

Got it, thanks. For the gallery index I put it in sonnb_xengallery_gallery_view and it shows up just fine.

Edit: what are the templates for "new albums" and "new photos" pages?

They are: sonnb_xengallery_gallery_new_albums and sonnb_xengallery_gallery_new_photos

I am importing my albums from vB4 and it worked very fine.
The exeption is, that all titles of all photos be used in the photo-url and if someone choose a very long title (without limit!) the url is too long.
Is there a possibility to restrict the count of words in picture-title to reduce the url?

The other point is: Every user can change the title of his own pictures. In that case the url changes, too. In my mind that is unfortunate because the search engines indexed the
privious url, which is now away.

By default the title limit will be 255. You cannot limit it without edit the code. You do not need to worry about the URL with title. Even the title is changed, you still can access it as it has unchanged ID.
