Yup. It would probably require a script to convert all converted codes back to links. S9E does not convert links to embeds on the fly. Your links are changed into bbcodes at time of posting so that is bound to happen.

If you uninstall the add-on, all the media sites installed are deleted. XenForo doesn't keep the original links unless you've configured it to add a link below the embeds.

I don't know when and how I'll upgrade the add-on for XF2. If someone can link me to a guide, that would help.

This is a feature suggestion... Some domains supported by S9E still do not seem use HTTPS by default (or at all?). Now this is not a problem for forums running on HTTP. But for forums running on HTTPS, these site links are converted but the embeds do not load because of mix content warning. BBC News is one of the sources that I noticed in recent days. It's not really a big deal but it might be useful to add a checkbox in the options to disable sites that are http only. This would be useful for forum owners who are running https only projects. Though it might be too much work (and future monitoring) for the developer.

That's not really doable. Most embeds use protocol-relative URLs and I don't know which sites only support HTTP. Some sites add support for HTTPS without me knowing and others let their certificate lapse and temporarily lose HTTPS. Basically, the list of non-HTTPS sites would require too much maintenance.

XenForo doesn't keep the original links unless you've configured it to add a link below the embeds.
This is possible in the options? Or how would one achieve to have an additional link below the embeds, please? Or did I get this totally wrong?

Not sure if this has been mentioned before. But Gfycat gave me this URL today:
Code:
https://gfycat.com/gifs/detail/LoathsomeHarmfulJenny

This was shown after uploading the gif file. Embed field still gives the direct URL:
Code:
https://gfycat.com/LoathsomeHarmfulJenny

You might consider adding support for the details URL if convenient. Cheers!

Just curious... Have you checked the XF2 documentation linked in this thread few days ago related to add-on development for the next version? Would really love to know your plans for a version for XF2. Thanks!

I gave it a glance but I haven't read it yet. I hope to be able to update for XF 2.0 before its official release; It depends on how much work it requires. I may need to abandon support for XF 1.x when I do, too.

By the way, I'm experimenting with a new lazy-loader. If anyone's interested, I'll attach the archive here. Depending on feedback I'll release it as a separate add-on. If you install it, make sure to disable this add-on's lazy loading by setting looking for the s9e_lazy_loading option in your admin panel and set it to "Load embedded content immediately" and not "Defer loading embedded content until it's visible (experimental)"

The new add-on has no settings or options. Pinging @Rambro because he seemed interested in loading times.
