XF 1.3 Remove template custom change availability?

Sequence of events:

1) Start with a template that has a direct edit in it (done in previous XF 1.2)
2) Create a template modification that will replace the direct edit (same code change)
3) Revert the template
4) Apply the modification
5) Look at the template
6) Use view custom changes, nothing is highlighted (should now match master version)

If the admin setting "clear template history" is set to 1 day and the history vanishes the next day, does the view custom changes button remain even though the template is back to it's original code?

I would prefer to clear the history on an individual template manually after reverting that template.

"View custom changes" only appears if the template has been edited. It's a comparison to the parent version so it's not related to history.

The template history is maintained when reverting, but won't be visible until the template has been re-edited.

I'm still not clear about this. When the comparison to the parent version is performed and there is no difference, shouldn't view custom changes disappear? Or is there some logging done that maintains view custom changes because a change was once made (even though it was later reverted)?

And to dig into this further, if there was a template modification but no actual direct edit of the template, then view custom changes would not show up correct? In this case view template modifications would be used.

If you have created a custom template in a style - regardless of changes made - the "view custom changes" button will appear.
