[rellect] AdBlock Detector [Deleted]

I did not recive mail too. I downloaded with link from past e-mails, but it will be better if notification and link with new version come with mail.

Hi @rellect,

I'd like to ask how to install the updates. I didn't receive the update from you.

Thanks.

See this:

Hey,

The service I'm using to manage the orders (FetchApp) has delays in the mailing system.
I'm looking for alternatives as that annoys me as well.

What I can suggest until the mail will be finally sent is to find a previous mail and use the download link from there, the download link is always the same per order.

Anyone who has troubles finding it, please contact me with the email address you've purchased with and I'll send you your download link.

Really sorry for the inconvenience. Hope to resolve it soon.

It seems Fetchapp is playing up. I've not had this update from @rellect nor updates from 2 add-ons by @Chris D. Fortunately I keep all previous emails so have the links to download these. It's probably best that anyone else does the same.

Hi @rellect

Re: this part of the update...

In this update the notice template is removed, and the relevant code is moved into the JS file. If you edited the notice template ('rellect_adblock_detector_notice') your changes will be removed.

So do we just need to make the change to the phrase again? Or do we edit the message somewhere else now?

Thanks

EDIT: Actually, the update applies to template, doesn't it? So any changes to the phrase should still be there. Correct?

That's correct. The message won't be changed.

A good addon, definitely worth the $5.

Please make it so we can change the message displayed in the next version though, I'm not keen on having a similar message for AdBlock users as ******* (my users pointed this out to me.. I swear)

You can change the message, or to translate it if you have a multi language site.
Search 'rellect_adblock_detector_message' in the admin search.

Since installing update, I have several users who, although they've whitelisted our site, started getting the Adblock alert again after we updated. Hmm.

And here's a user on chrome for Mac:

"
running adblock plus here, and disabled on your site. I'm getting the popup, and no ads. Yours is a website I'm happy to support through ad revenue, but i don't know what else I can do, having totally whitelisted the entire domain.
"

May you collect some more information? Such as the browser and the specific adblock extension they use.

Edit: okay I see your message edit now, can you check if that's the same case (chrome + adb plus) for all (or most) of the users that experience this?

Users A and B and C all using Chrome and Adblock Plus. Users A and B have adblock installed but whitelisted on my site (and still get the notice). User C has no adblocker installed and gets the notice intermittently (not all the time).

User D using FireFox v35, saw the warning a couple times yesterday but hasn't seen it since (no adblocker).

A couple other users reported odd behavior as well, but I don't have info on them.

Hope this helps!

@kontrabass
Does the members who whitelisted the domain gets the notice intermittently as well?

One user says he sees the notice every time he logs in. Other user says it's intermittent. <sigh> Sorry I can't give you anything better to go on :(

On a side note, another user who uses Disconnect gets the notice. I guess Disconnect blocks ads too?

Sounds very random. I'd need additional feedback from these users.
  • For those who don't use adblocker - please ask them to screenshot their extensions page.
This is to deny the possibility that they have an adblocker and they don't know about it.

  • For those who use an adblocker, but whitelisted the site - please ask them to completely disable the adblocker and then see if they get the alert.
    1. If they no longer see the alert - ask them to verify that the domain was correctly whitelisted (sometime only specific path of the domain is whitelisted).
    2. If they see the alert even when the adblocker is turned off - ask them to screenshot their extensions page, to deny the possibility that they have another adblock extension.

About disconnect, I've installed that to verify myself, and yes - it blocks ads.
