Reddit style node

I'm currently getting a quote to have a Reddit style node type developed. If you'd like to throw in a suggestion on how it should work please do. Being a node type it could be a standalone or nested in a category. The thread view will be collapsed until the title is clicked and it will expand to allow comments. Sort of like this image.

This is of no help whatsoever but I will never understand why forum owners want their sites to be reddit.

We have a live working demo and I love it. It brings conversation back to forums. There are a few things left to do.

Yet to implement:

• live threads and alerts
• tags
• merge duplicates (moderator)

Undecided. It's implemented now but suggestions and testers are welcome.

the threads are expandable right from the forum listing.

In this example, there are 4 threads in the forum called Sneaker Talk.
I clicked the third one (New Drops)
And there was no page load and redirected to the thread, the thread actually displayed IN THE FORUM LISTING.

What would happen for a 5 page (longer) thread ?

I wish this was in the core! It's not for every forum but it would be great as an option. I'm always a little sad when I see so much of the casual discussion sucked away by Discord and I think this could help bring some of it back to the forum.

Single page mode.

As far as I can see I can't open a thread in a separate tab?

For example here. I'd like to open the thread itself and leave a comment, but I can't do that. When I click on the thread title, it just opens up on the nodes page. Even if I try to open a thread in a new tab, it doesn't work. All comments are opened on the node page.
