Reddit style node

This is interesting but how will that thread/content be indexed by Google if it cannot be opened in a separate page/link?
Yes, but what about this? Content discovery is crucial. I’d understand if it were to be used on a well established website that likes this format.

For example here. I'd like to open go to the thread itself and leave a comment, but I can't do that. When I click on the thread title, it just opens up on the nodes page. Even if I try to open a thread in a new tab, it doesn't work. All comments are opened on the node page.
The link is to a node, from there open a topic and reply anywhere in the thread. You can even have more than one open at a time. There is no reason the opening in a new tab.

I love the creativity of the community but for me, I just can't get behind this. Forums aren't reddit and vice versa. But awesome to see if work like this. Way better implementation than a bigger company.

I’ll get back on this. It should all be going to the site map unless indexes are turned off. I ran topics are g just threads.

To me the way the reactions are displayed is visually disruptive to the flow. The .reactionsBar css to me could use some rework. Possibly placing the reactions inline with the username, date & time without a background. (see second image below)

Because you're not logged in you can't see the "reply", that is where you don't get it.

That is how I would use it.
Wouldn't be nice though that replies were actually connected to the post? Example. You made this comment on page 1 of this thread, My reply is at the end of page 2. Now the only reason you get context is that the reply is quoted. In a nested thread your reply is hierarchical. Both system work and both are great for a certain job. We just wanted a thread type that was more conversational.

I don't know how old you are but back in the 90's all forums were reddit style, it was the original type of forum. I for one would like forums to be used again.

Never seen anything worst than this! That's why don't use reddit, who replied, what is the reply, waste of time, because 1 person changed an ordinary way of forum, others must suffer! 🤣

What's so terrible about this? it's a very convenient system of nested comments, which does not bloat the interface and clearly indicates who is answering whom or takes the discussion with a person to a separate visual mini-thread. I especially like that on the left there are lines that lead to comments and they can be opened and closed.

I really like this thread styling approach. However, I have some threads that are hundreds of pages long, 15 posts per page. Does it just put all these thousands of posts on one page? That would cause a performance and navigational issue. Maybe would need to do some type of load as you scroll type event, or does it paginate? As others noted, I’d still like an option for users to view threads in the current (normal xf style) if they choose.

The thread list has pagination, then the post length is dynamic based on browser. The users that wanted the tabs didn't understand you need to be logged in to use replies etc. If you have a long post and someone replies in the centre the alert takes you to that post and new posts are marked as new. Everything uses very little space, is very fast, and intuitive.

I should point out that we've used Xon's amazing multi prefix to add a high level of navigation. When you setup a node you use prefixes suiting to the node theme (wide or narrow topics). As posts are made and users pick prefixes, those appear above which can filter the node list. The prefixes in the node list do the same. You can filter down more by selecting more prefixes.ref.webp
