Duplicate Reddit-like mode

It would be great if the new version, in addition to maintaining the traditional forum style, could also have a Reddit-like mode. This way, we could take forums to the next level, while still allowing those who prefer the classic style to continue using it. The idea is for this to advance and not get left behind, or to create a mix between a forum and a social network to modernize things.

Regarding not wanting numerous pages, you could just increase the number of comments per page and make comments more compact. But threaded view helps to scan through large threads, especially if you can collapse parent comments.

fora has nested replies / threaded threads

see fora information here

So that looks like it is forcing you to reply to a reply, not to the OP. Not good.
I'd already clicked the reply button and then the post reply area showed up.

I agree with you, it makes the most sense to give the poster the option of:
Comment (reply to post)
Reply (reply to thread)

The poster themselves knows if they are:
(i) just replying to a poster (information not relevant to the larger thread) or
(ii) replying to the thread (information IS relevant to the larger thread)

Threaned threads [ ...] makes the discussions on the same subject more organised
Erm, no - quite the opposite is true:
Threading usually fosters on-topic discussions getting lost in sub-discussions on (unrelated) details so following such a thread to stay up-do-date becomes a nightmare.

I think this suggestion will be normalised over time and will be used by many people.
We'll see. Personally I think that forums most certainly won't move away from linear (in the forseeable future) as threaded has been tried and simply doesn't work well (for general topic dicussion forums - it does work quite well for question-answer type technical forums; comments on editorial content and non-topic discussions on social media platforms where nobody cares what was posted after a few hours anyway).

something appealing to younger audiences. If I want a website that attracts younger users, they’re not interested in the traditional forum style.
Agreed. Forums are usually not appealing to younger audiences due to their nature (=mainly text-based content) and you most likely won't be able to change this without changing the nature of forums.

But threaded view helps to scan through large threads, especially if you can collapse parent comments.
I'd totally disagree here. Especially deeply nested postings are very difficult to follow (at least for me).
Imagine you collapsed a sub-tree and somebody made a new post you'd like to read somewhere 10+ levels deep ... good luck easily locating that post.

For those who remember the old usenet, nested threads used to be a thing. They are nothing new. Current linear layout was considered a modern improvement at the time, with some good reasons.

Reddit has its pros and cons, but I'd leave those at Reddit.

I am not a fan of 'threaded mode', but the more compact postbit layout where there is a small avatar and username with metadata on the top row and the content below is definitely an option that would be better UX and reduce scrolling which is always great.

That's what it's like now, IMO. Small avatar, nick, and some data. :)

I get it - you mean really tiny, like Reddit. :)

For those don’t like threaded threads, do you still agree it’s the best format for Q and A threads ?
