huh ?

I need smarter members and I'm tired of being blamed for their computer problems.....

I have a few people who (growing majority) of our community who are not "tech smart" and have admittedly gone to "not safe" sites.

And so they come visit my site and have a world of problems, which are not there, but they claim only happen on my site.... Which I think part of them do because I've in the past had the habit of trying to help them fix their problem (even though it is their problem & not my own).

One example is one of my members tells me that they're seeing ads and pop-ups on our site. Which isn't true, we're ad free, we don't even use text ads. Hell, for argument's sake we're removing Google Analytics, so soon we won't even have tracking code.

But on the safe side I checked the code and all is well. But that doesn't prevent someone from ranting up and down the site claiming that our site is filled with junk, which of course deters others from wanting anything to do with us or at the very least doesn't make us look so good. o_O

I had another administrator join our site and troll us using this "tactic". He'd join, claim our site was full of junk, and tell people to go to his site. It's one of the reason why our support forum isn't public, so that we can address such things more in private ... ie... Have time to squash these things before they carry any weight.

That seems to be a common theme.... X admin or mod from Y site comes over to convince others to leave us for them.

Your site can't be that good if you need to come to someone else's site to recruit. But I'd sure like to know what it is about our site that make it such a recurring pattern.

// end rant.

I've had customers seriously angry while I was doing my job, for not being able to give them the password they were using for Windows (to log in to their pc). And no, I did not work at Microsoft. I tried explaining the situation and that's a password he set himself and had absolutely nothing in any way to do with the company I worked with, nor were we able to know that password in any way. Well, that gave me a "that's ridiculous, it's all your fault, give me my password!!" reply and he ended up hanging up because I didn't help him.

Technical support, administrate support, and generally anyone in the tech field .... Is one of those things where for some reason people assume you have the answers to everything.

This 8thos Bar is a pain-in-the-butt when it comes to responsive. I'm overhauling it to respond to responsive correctly.

Even more ridiculous is how you have to send off a form to get the final statement for an account you closed a few weeks ago because of their ineptitude - and that you had to get the final statement because they forgot to send it...

I've personally never had that problem.

But the problem I hate is how they hold your paycheck for 3 - 5 business days. In my case it's direct deposit, so arguably the money is there. I mean it's "direct" deposit. .... ie .... Its directly added into your bank account. Why on earth would they need to hold it?

This leaves that annoying gap of balance vs available balance. Which is like a personal insult. It's the banks way of telling you, yes, you have more money, but we're only allowing you to use this much today. o_O

Well, I'm happy for you that you've never had this problem. Having to explain to a government body why you're late returning a report to them because of the bank playing silly beggars isn't exactly fun.

I'd be surprised if it really is 'direct deposit'. The money's been credited to your account but it's not actually there yet in case the sender defaults on it for whatever reason. The bank should cover you to make a purchase out of that cash if they sender is good for it, though - they won't necessarily actually have the money in your account per se, more than they know it's coming.

In the UK at least direct deposit on salary is actually very rare indeed, owing to the fact that the sender has to pay £25+ for the privilege of what's called telegraphic transfer, while salary is normally paid via the BACS system which takes 3 days to clear. Yay for formerly working in a bank.

Told this girl at the club tonight that she looks like Monica Lewinsky.

She said who?
Hay .... Young Monica Lewinsky was kind of hot. Of course if you Google her today, good luck trying to find a younger photo of her.

With this said.... Feeling a little older today?

Congrats on finally getting a bank account!

Congrats on finally getting a bank account!
By "bank" I mean pre-paid debit / credit card.

Basically the same thing overall... ie... An "account" which allows to make deposits & withdraws, that gives me a card with a visa, master, discover, amex, or maestro logo on it.

Difference being that it doesn't yield any interest, which is generally fine with me. And it doesn't allow me to take loans / credit out, which I don't believe in, so again no loss. And finally no application, general paperwork, and because its not American no ChexSystems reports.

Yes, I do very much enjoy my setup. :)
