I then got the second error:

Bet you he has Waindigo's Installer add-on installed (as I found that file in it's cronentry directory) - and he didn't disable add-ons as was recommended by several people when updating/upgrading.

This is most likely related to that add-on; as this hasn't come up before. I would contact the author (Its either Waindigo or Chris Deeming) for further help.
