PemBer - Professional Paid Membership Plugin [Deleted]

Ever since I uninstalled this my members are not able to buy upgrades properly. It charges them but the site never actually gives them the upgrade, also I am seeing a lot of paypal connection failures now.

Hey Randy, how are you.

PemBer is entirely independent of XF's user upgrades. Check two things

1> That you don't have another addon which is extending xf user upgrades, for instance the ******* credits addon.
2> You removed pember_callback IPN url in your paypal IPN notification settings.

XF user upgrades pass the ipn url so 2> is not really necessary though.

Disable the installed addons one by one and test the XF user upgrades to find if it's an addon which is causing trouble.

alright thanks man, are there any php files I should remove from ftp?

Well PemBer adds the following folders

pember_callback.php
library
- PemBer
js
- pember
styles
- pember

Make sure you have deleted all of them.

@Sadik B still not working, it seems to only affect people that have a different email on their account than the one that is linked to their paypal. Maybe this isn't from your addon but it would be my first guess. Does your addon query a users email to apply an upgrade? I removed everything you said and still have the issue.

Hi Randy.

First off, PemBer is uninstalled. It isn't affecting anything. There is no pember code running anywhere and it isn't doing anything at all.

You have very likely an addon which is conflicting. Disable all addons, and re-upload xenforo files (or upgrade to 1.5.8!) and test again. If it works with all addons disbled, enable addons one by one and then test again. You will find the culprit.

alright thats what ill do, hopefully my changes in my extra.css file and other files are still there. Thanks for the help.

Just a quickie, @Sadik B. Is there any chance you could consider a new feature for a future release:
  • Initiate a Conversation with a user who has purchased a given Product
  • Send that user a configurable message in that Conversation
Thanks :)

Well that is not difficult to do, but pember already sends an email upon purchase of a product. Look at the phrases pember_welcome_email_top and pember_welcome_email_top_html for the plain text and html versions of the welcome emails.

The only issue with this is that when guests are buying, the welcome email is sent to their paypal email address, which is sometimes not the same as their regular email and they miss the email.

I will remember this feature request for a conversation in a future version though... :)

On our forum it's almost 100% not the same as their regular email in fact :D

Also I'd like to be able to set specific messages on a per-product basis so that if they purchase X product they get a message about X product's features, if they purchase Y product the message focuses on Y's features, and so on <3

Hmmm, that is a good suggestion. But I am afraid this will not make it to this version (1.4).

1.4 has completed development and I am in a testing phase. What you are saying will need an interface to edit the message to be sent for each product, I will keep a note of this in my suggestions list for a future version.

how long you require the tests? :)

Questions:
you can switch a subscription to another?
it will be possible to extend the subscription period under way without waiting for the deadline?
thanks

Ha ha, I really wish I could release it right away... I have money waiting for me... :)

Yes, you can definitely switch subscriptions. PemBer incorporates best practices for subscriptions learnt from years of experience on sites with hundreds of subscriptions. Here's what happens for people who already have a subscription.

1> Whatever days are left in the current subscription are added to the new subscription's first period.

What this means is that say, you bought a monthly subscription on Jan 1st for $10.

Now on Jan 15th you bought a quarterly subscription for $25.

So, on Jan 15th you will be charged $25. Your next charge will be on April 30th instead of April 15th, adding the 15 days rolled over from the previous subscription you had.

Not only this,

2> PemBer will also automatically cancel the monthly subscription from Paypal or Stripe to ensure that the buyer is not charged for both subscriptions if say the buyer forgets to cancel the subscription at the gateway. (Believe me this happens!)

Hope this clarified your question!

not really, because I have not linear subscriptions :P

I have different subscription types, with different prices and different permissions.
Example:
1) 5€ for 4 months at 5 downloads
2) 15€ for 2 months with 10 downloads

In practice, when you increase the download increases the price and decreases it on time, but increase downlad that you can do on the site.

If I understand it by purchasing the number 1 on 1st January, and then 15 January purchase the second, when my subscription ends?
forgive me questions, but that's why I look perber :)

Yours is a unique case where a higher priced subscription has less time... :)

But that's fine because whether or not rollover days get added to the new subscription is an option in admin cp. So you can disable the option which asks you whether rollover days should be added. If you disable the option, then if I buy 15€ subscription on Jan 15th, it will end on Mar 15th. The 5€ will be cancelled.

It is why there is an increase in downloading the software, so consider them as resellers.

One other thing that charging is inconvenient for me at the time and having to replicate the same subscription with the only increase in months.

It would be nice (user side) have a drop down menu where you choose your subscription
5€ and then choose months of duration (4 months, 8 months, 12 months)
10€ (4 months, 8mesi, 12 months)

thanks for all your patience and look forward coming out :)

I understand. That is a different use case though. You just will have to create a product for every month interval and in your sales page (which you can create with PemBer), just have a table with all the purchase options.
