Add-on Must I ask? Arcade

From the looks of all of it, seems like there is a positive "Want to" to make a arcade, but just talk up to this point.
As ArnyVee menioned above http://www.xfarcade.com/not a whole lot going on or updates as to what might be going on.
What would it hurt to have more than one arcade floating around?

Stan, I do not see why Brian and Kevin could not help working with you once their done with their projects. Maybe they would want to collaborate with you later, possible?

This seems to be taking quite a long time. I am considering coding an Arcade for XEN from scratch. I might begin working on it this weekend. The coding of it shouldnt take too long, but if everyone wants high scores and challenges this will take me some time to code.
I think you should contact Kevin directly, and tell him you are able to help with the convert progress of v3Arcade. This is just my opinion, because if you do individually you will need lots more time and skills to spend, together with Kevin you can achieve the task sooner.

Ill pm Kevin and see how far along they are and offer up some help. I have used V3 in the past on several of my VB site's and it is a very good base. I considering migrating one of my largest gaming sites to XF and really need an Arcade before I can do so.

Anyway ill keep you all updated as I find out the route im going.

This would indeed be terrific if you could pull this off, and as I've stated to Kevin I'm happy to toss in a bit of funding towards the project. I'm not talking a small donation.

I'd suggest getting the most important functionality in first (with good XF-based coding practices), then build some XF-related feature magic in after the initial release.

I have PMed Kevin and just waiting for a reply in regards to time frame. If we are talking months I will begin working on development of an Arcade. If I do I do not plan to release a stripped down version so I will outsource some of my work to speed up this process.

Lets just wait on Kevin's reply.

wtf is a nice site :)

Checking in... looks like the original coder can now be classified as MIA since I am not getting responses back from my last email (sent the 9th) nor to any PCs on any site and I see now today that they are here (in the XF forums) but posting under a different account. :(

Stan: Your PC is next on the list to read. I'm sure we can work something out if you're up for a challenge.

That sucks, so you're saying the coders have backed out of doing the arcade? That's silly. If we weren't working on major projects already I would offer our services, but too much too fast is never a good thing. Hopefully someone picks up this project quickly.

That is what is looks like as of today. After I saw that they were still active here at XF and released another addon but using a different account I realized the reality of the situation.

I just responded to a PC from Stan; hopefully something good comes of it.

I see, that is a real bummer but let's hope Stan can pick this up. An arcade would be a major accomplishment in terms of add-ons for XenForo. I had a v3Arcade license for my vB sites, but since I moved over to XenForo not a day goes by that at least one user asks me "where is the Arcade?" :(

There's no excuse for the lack of communication, and the piss-poor behavior.

I've run into many a PAID coder over the last 10 years who gets either defensive, insecure, or embarrassed in some form during a project and makes either endless excuses, or makes an attempt to ignore those around him or tries to come back under other names. I've also known several who always underestimate a project, or can't say no any time money is involved even though they have no business taking on another project. There's a lot of immaturity out there.

It's pretty pathetic, but such is the nature of the internet. ;)

Whoever does this Project will have enough support from people here :P too many people are waiting to get this Add-on so it will be worth putting some efforts on .

Xenforo needs to attract quality developers.

I hope they think outside the box and embrace a new relationship between forum creators and addon makers.
vBulletin benefits *ALOT* from vBulletin.org and all the mods.
Yet, vBulletin provides zero resources and zero love to Mod creators.
This simply is bad business. Everyone loses.

The time for embracing developers IS NOW.
Xenforo essentially has many missing parts according to HOARDS of people.
Xenforo doesn't:
- have the time to make all the mods people wants.
- doesn't want to bloat the core
They need Addon developers A LOT.
But I've seen no information they are providing Resources to developers. Sure they answer a few questions at times ... but no real firm investments.

Just doing things like vBulletin did isn't the way of the future.

Well I have been petitioning for a while now for K&M to work on an add-on system that actually has developers/resource creators in mind. Letting them upload add-ons (paid and unpaid) and setting callbacks for versions (update notifications) as well as PayPal integration for donations. I'm sure both add-on and skin developers could benefit from such. I have been told that this is being worked on, but will be anywhere in the near future....doubt it. I could be wrong, but with as much development work as XenForo needs to keep up with competitors, I don't see K&M having much time to develop such an extension to this site.

Scary. Very scary.

Short and Medium term of sales of Xenforo essentially require Addons.
[example: Custom User Profile fields, User Gallery]
Addons require Addon makers.
I guess time will tell what Support Xenforo will give developers.
I hope Xenforo Addon makers will be anointed with the plans soon.

in the vB addons section: vB4.
8313 said they installed ibProArcade. It is the most popular addon.
That's essentially 4 times more popular than the next most popular addon.

Surely a collection could be started to get this made.

I see ibProArcade was the only "Premium Mod" with it's own forum ..
http://www.vbulletin.org/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=170
I believe Stan and Kevin will accomplish what ibProArcade accomplished on vBulletin. I noticed that ibProArcade was a "Premium Modification", due to, its own board. I first used ibProArcade cause it was heavily supported, then switched over to v3Arcade when Mochi came into play. I also received excellent support from Kevin wiht good experience. That made me ultimately switch away from ibProArace was Kevin's helpfulness and debugging.

I only used v3Arcade on one board, but I plan to use xenArcade on all my xenForo installs.

I do have gripe about Mochi games, not Kevin. Mochi games now have their own scoring system, which my boards scores inv3Arcade can no longer fetch scores. If I need to go back to v3Arcade for support, I might need to ask Kevin here to help me access my account again.
