Merging Two Nodes

I'm thinking about doing some reorganizing of forum nodes...and was thinking about merging two nodes. What's the best way to merge the threads & posts of two nodes into a single node? Haven't done this before & want to be sure it gets done correctly.

Thanks

Thanks Brogan. Is this the "Batch Update Threads" in the "Forum" area of the ACP? If so...looks a bit complex. I checked the XF 2 manual...and read the "Batch Update Threads" section...still seems complex.

Maybe I'll move the threads from one node to the other node manually. It will take longer...but at least I'll know I made no mistakes. Lol

Thanks:)

Looks like manual moving of the threads works fine...since all threads on the same page can be selected with one click. Only have about 500 threads to move...not too bad. If it was one of the more busy forums (50k+ threads)...that would be a very different matter!;)

Thanks

  • Create a thread prefix for the threads you're about to move so they can be easily sorted/found
  • Make sure the prefix is enabled for the destination forum (node)
  • Move the posts into the destination forum (node)
  • Check to make sure the forum you want to delete is empty
  • Delete the empty forum
The above is how I do it.
