Looking for a new host solid with optimizing xF

Same here, and I still get pleasantly surprised by their customer service :)
Wow - a couple of familiar avatars using the same host. Good job, Tim!
I'm pretty sure (I'll have to ask him to check) that we were his first big forum.
He has done well with specialising in forum hosting. Possibly prompted by the tremendous effort we've put into keeping a busy vB3 forum running on as few servers as possible.
When we move to XF, I expect the weight to be lifted off the servers' shoulders :)

Just sent a call for help on an upload error. Mike fixed it within 15 mins. - most of which was asking me questions.

:D I'm pleased that your happy with our service with us. Thank you again for all your kind words, it means a lot hearing it come from peers of a community you are active in.

We've also just signed up to move over to Mike.. I believe he's migrating us as I type this. Very excited to see how our big board performs on his network.

Mike, do you do XF optimising of external servers for a price? What about server management and monitoring of external dedicated servers for a price?

My dedicated server is maintained by 24x7 Server Management and I am sure they don't know what is best for XF but they only cost me $28 a month although it really is a set up and forget, other then 15min monitoring pings.

Sure I could work out a fair cost for you to optimize your server and remain your server admin for monthly maint/management/monitoring. Thanks for this great idea too, might be something for me to consider to add to my site also. Though I'm currently only looking to host xF forums as vB and IPB resource usage is much higher, I can still optimize any forum solution externally too. I know vB well, I just don't want it on my servers :D

Mike,

Single server? Diverse redundancy? Your site does not provide this information.

Yes, we use single dedicated servers, adding our 3rd really soon thanks to our rapid growth already. Servers are Xeon 2x quads, 64GB RAM, SQL is mounted on SSD and static content SATA3 RAID10, LiteSpeed atm but considering Ngnix simply as LS is falling behind in technology, PHP5.4.11 with PerconaSQL 5.5 on a 1Gbps port. Please do let me know if you require further info.

This whinge does NOT relate to Mike Edge and xfhost,me with whom I'm well pleased.

I'm a lot less pleased about STILL sorting out domain mess hanging over from my previous service - more than a week after leaving them.
Calculating lost income at admin £10 an hour I've lost around £300 to trudging around domain registration sites, trying to track down what happened; plodding through their stupidly bad support pages, making endless notes to try to keep up with it all, re tracking on new stages of transfers over and over and over again, making lengthy expensive support calls to premium numbers or international call numbers. GRRRR!

Strictly speaking it's my fault because I allowed myself to be bullied into using services I never chose, but were the preferred services by the previous host.
That meant using various different services with several different companies, several different website interfaces to cope with which makes it very slow. Instead of one simple company as I had before. Hellishly complicated arrangements not to mention no cpanel but weird ftp with sub sub sub sub directories. Headbanging.

OK I should have stuck it out for what I preferred - hindsight. But if someone keeps playing 'I'm the Expert' and keeps arguing, and you just dont have time - I have a business to run which is only one small part about its software - you give in just to get the ruddy job done and have websites to work with.
So now I have a whole pile of my own clients who haven't had my services as they should have done because someone messed up my websites and I had to spend over a week sorting them out.

Again I cannot thank Mike Edge enough. Without his patient and good humoured help it could have taken a month to get sorted.

Yes, we use single dedicated servers, adding our 3rd really soon thanks to our rapid growth already. Servers are 2x quads giving 32 cores via Xeon HypeThread, 64GB RAM, SQL is mounted on SSD and static content SATA3 RAID10, LiteSpeed atm but considering Ngnix simply as LS is falling behind in technology, PHP5.4.11 with PerconaSQL 5.5 on a 1Gbps port. Interesting, 2 x quads only give 16 per server unless my math is wrong... Glad to see you want to use nginx, you should. Been using it for the last 3 years and there is nothing out there that entices me to move away from it. Have recommended to Companies that gross > 2 billion UK Sterling to use it. Percona is is the future of InnoDB but I fear that Oracle will close source more of MySQL over the next few years. Then it will become an issue.

Let me know Mike (oh, not sure where the vb came from but I don't use vb at all any more)

Think you may have an issue Mike:

Yeah, someone is getting out of memory issues out of the blue, trying to track it down. Flipped to Apache for a min to see it it was LiteSpeed itself and everyone got that.

Our first hiccup.... LiteSpeed was acting up, seems ok now after a recompile of PHP, have a ticket in with them too reporting what had happened. Everything should be normal again, but I'll be watching the server closely too to assure it is. Sorry about that guys.
