XF 2.3 Local addon development [Newbie Question?]

So far I haven't had a need to uninstall and reinstall addons, but I just had to do it. Why did my template modifications, phrases, etc all get unloaded after reinstalling it.

I generated them using the admin panel and haven't moved them because they were working.

Why would you uninstall your addon from your development environment?

More importantly: how did you uninstall / reinstall your addon?

Hint: don't use the UI for addon operations in a dev environment - use the CLI.
