Limited Guest Viewing Pro - Boost Registrations [Paid] v1.9.21

No permission to buy ($40.00)
v1.9.9 addresses this, just make sure you have selected the appropriate XFMG options for Media Files, as well as checking the box below.

Note, if someone flicks through the photos at lightning speed the system will not be able to update the session value fast enough. But otherwise it works well.
Perfect 🙏

If I edit the message block that appears in the wutime_lgv_block template and change it to a div with custom css, the style is not applied when the message appears because it has reached the maximum number of views.

Also the footer links (contact, terms, etc.) are also displayed when I have them hidden in extra.less

The Console report this error:
"Refused to apply style from 'xxxxxxxx/register?lgv=1' because its MIME type ('text/html') is not a supported stylesheet MIME type, and strict MIME checking is enabled."

You should be changing styles in the "Style Properties":

1725472474650.webp

Look for:

1725472498029.webp

You can change the styles for any number of "Styles" you have added to XenForo.

Hello everyone,

I have just bought and installed the AddOn.

In my first tests I cannot leave the AddOn activated, because the tested browsers (Chrome and FireFox) both want to redirect the guest to the registration after the allowed number and this process is aborted by too many redirects.

The registration link is also modified. Instead of

- [domain]/index.php?register/

the forum redirects to

- domain]/index.php?register?lgv=1

. And this is canceled.

What can I do?

Best regards
P!

That's odd, can you tell me the following:
  • Version of XenForo
  • Settings for Limit and Force? (default install is 2 and 8, but I'm curious what you're using)
  • Are you using "friendly url's" in XenForo?
The modified register?lgv=1 is normal.

Let me know the above and I'll setup a similar development scenario and test.

Note, redirecting to the registration page is a feature; to ensure guests are limited to a number of views prior to being forced to register. With that said, sounds like you have an issue with "too many redirects" which is something I'll investigate and resolve.

I am currently using XenForo version 2.3.3 with the default setup as recommended from you.

I have not enabled the use of "friendly URLs" on my installation.

To assist you in investigating this matter more efficiently, I would be more than happy to grant you temporary access to my XenForo installation, if that would be more convenient for you.

Thank you for taking the time to look into this issue. I

Appreciate the offer, but I was able to identify the issue. It was related to friendly url's not being enabled, and an oversight on my end. I'm glad I was able to quickly resolve the issue.

This update did the trick. Everything works fine! Thank you!

I've bought this AddOn to prevent robots from crawling. They ignore my robots.txt and I've reached up to 1TB of traffic per month.. which makes no sense for a niche forum (which exists for 20 years - but with online 180 - 250 active User per month) and the traffic caused by robots seems significant.

Robots can always crawl a website unless you make your forum private.

Robots crawling is actually quite important, without them, search engines will be unable to index new content from your website to their search results.

You should carefully consider the impact of "not allowing crawlers" to view your website will have. It could have some catastrophic consequences to the exposure of your forum over time, moving forward.

From what you're saying, it sounds more like "bad bots", because any of the others should always obey robots.txt as is my understanding.

Hi @Wutime

Is any possibility to add exclude PWA from view counting?
I'm not sure if it's possible to detect whether a view comes from a PWA. Do you know?

Also, why would someone install the community as a PWA and not actually be a member? Seems like it would be somewhat counter productive?

No, this is aimed at guest viewers only. I could put one together that's aimed at registered viewers and after a set number of views "per day" or in "total" forwards the users to the upgrade page (account/upgrades).

Are you still considering creating this. I was just coming to ask the same question about assigning non premium usergroups to it as well.
