Invision community Vs Xenforo

The main issue is that finding hosting for NodeBB is harder than finding hosting for XF etc. - pretty much any stock hosting company will provide hosting compatible with XF (though some are better than others!) but hosting a Node app trends towards configuring and maintaining a VPS. Not that that’s impossible, but it puts in a skill requirement that your average hosting company doesn’t have for a PHP app.

Ah that makes sense I didn't even consider the barrier to entry for a lot of people less tech savy. I've used nothing but VPS's for many years now.

Yeah for what its worth I think Invision IS worth the price. My issue is customizing Invision seems much harder to do than any other software for the most part.

This is what's been pulling me towards XF/NodeBB.

We're currently looking at NodeBB as well. Is there any specific reason you never bothered with that software?
NodeBB and Discourse are open source and still too good. I set up discourse to help my friend together and I and my friend learned how to use discourse, it was a lot easier and fun. Due to security advice, I can see that discourse installation is required to use docker. Sadly, XenForo doesn't support Docker. But it is already possible to set the docker with XenForo unofficial documentation.

I'm staying with XenForo. Because it is more comfortable for me to understand how to use UI and design, system and also I've been working on private add-on developments myself

Expensively. And without a third party addon marketplace! Or a self hosted licence

Invision official has removed third party add-ons/styles.

From invisioneer (Third party add-ons/styles) has 431 total, it worse than XenForo over 6k for XF1.X and XF2.X together.

This is funny, so why Invisioner staff trying to compete against XenForo? This is just disrespectful.

Anyways XenForo is already win

I know. Ergo the comment of without a marketplace 😉 end of the day there's no definitive "better" - it's subjective and dependent individual needs, skills and budget.

There is no wrong answer.

Except vBulletin 4+

Invision staff are salty of xenforo staff. So the mock and mimik each other.
Except invision are the most expensive forum out there.

I had never even heard of or come across this forum software, whose developers have been creating forums since 1997 :D A fast forum, but outdated, and even after XenForo I don't spend any more money on forum systems! I've had enough of wasting so much money :D

Worse UI and design, layout, system, useless... 139 US/Euro? It should be free anyway

I'll throw this cent (0.01) / 15.69 SK won to UBB.threads

And please don't get me wrong. Right now the same article in PHPbb3 is indexed, but in XenForo 2.3.6 it is not :( I really hope the domain is problematic, I really hoped that VPS was problematic. I prefer XenForo to any other system, you could say that I even love this software, BUT, it's a shame that PHPbb handles SEO perfectly, and XenForo 2.3 does not, and still, if the search engine doesn't see your forum, then who will?

perhaps if they can just make it modern in a way nobody has thought of yet?
This could be done with a few innovations, maybe like no navigation, no logo, no widgets, no categories, no login or search links. All that stuff is so old hat. No forums or subforums. Maybe just everything clean and modern looking plenty of space. No breadcrumbs. Nice clean modern white background, and just to be more innovative nice modern font with white text against it.

In what way?

In what way?
Elementary. The same article published in Xenforo 2.3 and the same in PhPbb3, but on different domains. The one in PhPbb3 is indexed, but the one in XenForo 2.3 is not. Again, I really hope the domain is a problem, or VPS, not XenForo, but we'll see.
