It’s really not a lot for a one man development team.

I believe it's just one guy. A team would make me feel more safe. We're trusting all our images on one guy and his addon. At least that's the impression i got, I might be wrong.

I installed the cwebp binary using apt install webp --no-install-recommends but still, the image attachments aren't converted to WebP.

Currently add-on does not change the file extensions. I'm testing with that to prevent futhur issues. You can download any PNG, JPEG images when webp enabled to check.
