XF 2.2 Failed upgrade - Forbidden.

I am unable to update to the current version or install any plugins. Prior to this version, this worked fine.

I get this message in the admin panel: "XenForo 2.2.8 Patch 1 is now available."

When I click on upgrade, the upgrade fails and I get:

Forbidden​

You don't have permission to access this resource.

Any idea what is causing this?

Well, nothing has changed in the current version of XF you have installed, so that tells you something changed on the server.

I know nothing has changed on my server, also.

Impossible. Something on the server changed, security wise or file permissions.

Nothing necessarily changed on the server, but whatever security mechanisms are in place are now being triggered by false positives.

It's something which only the host can fix by whitelisting or disabling.

It is odd, neither the install plugin nor upgrade work now. Which files and directories would give this error?

It’s most likely something security related, your host should be able to identify what is causing the rule to be triggered and whitelist it.

I think I am going to look at another host. The host, Leaseweb, last night told me they cannot help and do not support the use of Xenforo. Game, set, match, and I am taking my ball to find another court.

Any suggestions? I am looking at Knownhost.

Knownhost have good reviews on here, there is also a small VPS (depending on forum size) and use CMM which is far better than shared hosting (in my opinion)
