Facebook's new new new design

Has anyone discovered how to deactivate that darn feed ticker on the right?
Also someone posted (on FB) to change your language and the old layout would come back.
Didn't work.
That "trick" would only be temporary anyway, as the updated would propagate through the servers.

I have yet to see this annoying ticker on the right column I keep hearing complaints about though. o_O

Its only on the main feed page and since you are using LISTS, you won't see it. Its similar to the notifications (when expanded) on G+

Yeah and redundant. All of the Bob likes Sue and 7 other friends, and Joe commented on Kathy's link, and allllllllllllll the crap that's in your regular newsfeed, is also on that god-awful newsfeed ticker. So you have the privilege of being pissed off TWICE! :mad:

grrrrrr....

You can turn off most of that. You now "subscribe" to each of your friends. To shut of their likes, you just unsubscribe them. You can set each friend to the way you want.

Custom .css works for me to get the attached look:
Code:
.ticker_container
{
display: none;
}

I may look into fine tuning it to get it completely removed, but yeah. If your browser supports custom stylesheets (don't they all?) you can do it.

But why would I unsubscribe them when I friended them in the first place? Isn't that kinda defeating the purpose?
Tho I sure would like to get rid of all their likes and "Sue is now friends with jabba the hut and 8 other people" crap.

Have you actually clicked on the "subscriptions" and noticed that you can turn on and off MULTIPLE subscribe type things... one of them being Comments and Likes. That is what I am talking about. Subscriptions are NEW and are how you control what content you see from EACH individual. Unsubscribing has nothing to do with unfriending them. Just mouse over a name on the feed.. that pops up a overlay.... mouse over "subscribed" and this will open an overlay drop down where you can set (for that individual) what kinda updates you want to receive from them... I've been cleaning up my subscribes for a few days now... I do it when something bothers me haha.. its really simple, fast and effective.

Eh, after a few minutes playing in firebug, the above solution is as close as I'm going to get it... I haven't figured out how to remove the bar and push contacts up. Maybe some more CSS gurus can help? PS: definitions in fLrXClYyRsP.css.

Not crazy about the changes either. But, more people will probably come around to the ticker once the "listen with your friend" feature is launched at F8 today and starts rolling out to everyone over the next few days/weeks. Though I have to say Google's Hangouts API is more impressive.

I installed "A Better Facebook" which is a Firefox extension, and has numerous options.
It got rid of that darn ticker on the right.
Love it.

Yeah I have actually, but didn't have the time to go through it all at that moment.
I'll go back and check it out.

I dunno if this is part of the "new" predictive/selective stuffor not... but I was just looking at pics of a friends brand new house.. and suddenly noticed the content of the "sponsored" Ad... hmmm think they are trying to tell me something

I don't use firefox. I accomplished it via CSS. I also figured out how to hide all chat.
